Today we popped into the St Nikolai's Church before returning home and I managed to sneak a shot of the front area of the interior of the church without being seen. The murals and woodcarvings are quite magnificent, but still retain a reverence of simplicity. The east wing of the church is being renovated right now and I hope to get some pictures of that when completed. It may take quite a while, as it requires specialist work.
I love the Orthodox Churches, hope you will do some more entries on them!
ReplyDeleteI have it in mind, but it is quite offensive to many Bulgarian church goers there.
