This is a typical sight you see in Yambol where posters of Yambol's folk no longer with us are display as reminders of their previous presence.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

Typical Cobblestone Yambol Street
Each year that passed you would think that the streets of Yambol would be modernised as many are made of cobblestone. Not to be! these Yambol cobblestone streets are durable and long lasting, require little maintenance and deter speeding with the nature of the surface. Long may they live!

Zlaten Rog Restaurant in Yambol's City Park
This is Zlaten Rog (which means Gold Horn) Restaurant on the outskirts of Yambol's City Park. Never really seen it busy during the day but I hear it is very popular for special events such as birthday parties, wedding etc. It is quite am imposing figure as you walk past, guess I'll never get the chance to use the place inside and rely on 3rd party experiences from others.

Yambol's Tennis Club
This it Yambol's Tennis Club which is frequented by old and young tennis fanatics throughout the week. It has an adjoining cafe/bar at the rear where you can drink and have a snack whilst watching the tennis. The location is North of the Yambol City Park and a lovely walk to get there from Yambol City Centre.

You can sit on this Yambol City Park bench at your peril for obvious reasons and it's not ice cream. Risky!

Lexicon, Yambol's Town Centre Nightclub
Saturday night is alright for dancing in Lexicon, the alive and kicking Nightclub in the centre of Yambol. It boogies right through to sunrise which is when I left the place.

A Simple Chicken KFC Style Shop in Yambol
Tucked away in the back street is a simple Chicken shop standing looking very isolated and sorry for itself. The business closed down a while ago. There is no real demand for KFC type places in isolated areas of Yambol as local pastries and snacks such as banitsa and princesses are far more popular with locals.

Maira the Yambol Guard Dog
This is Maira a local Guard Dog that does the job very well with her distinct and high decibel barking whenever a stranger approaches. Luckily I find myself not in the category of stranger with her as you can see she was greeting me with a High Five when seeing me.

A Closer Look at a Yambol Linden Tree Blossom
Making Linden Tea from the blossoms off Yambol Linden Trees is a favourite pastime for many Yambol Folk. After letting it dried over a few weeks is it ready for infusion and as tradition dictates, food for free being taken advantage of. And yes, I do the same myself each year whenever the opportunity arises.

New Banitsa Shop Opens Next to Yambol General Hospital
A new banitsa shop where the pastries are made on the premises have opened recently. Opposite the Yambol General Hospital is a good place for business. I can tell you that the banitsas are quality, but not too good for the health if eaten daily. Once or twice a week it becomes a special treat for breakfast.

The Yambol Coat of Arms
Today I though it might be good to show off Yambol's coat of arms. You see this in many places in Yambol and obviously proud of the emblem.

Bracket Mushroom in Yambol's City Park
A lovely specimen of a bracket mushroom in Yambol's City Park. Quite happy on decaying wood away from the maddening crowds and pollution. Glad to say that it will not be tampered with or destroyed by passing folk.

Alexander Stamboliiski Street Leading to Yambol's City Park
During the first week of June there are celebrations in Yambol and June 5th was officially Yambol Day. Alexander Stamboliiski Street sure does show signs of this with the brightly coloured bunting leading all the way down to Yambol City Park. Don't you feel this pulling you into the park?

Sunday Anglers on Yambol's River Tundzha
It is Sunday afternoon and the fishing season started so no surprise to see two very happy anglers on Yambol's River Tundzha trying their luck for dinner tonight. However, today wasn't their lucky day, despite much time no fish caught on this session.

Kabile Monastery - 6 Km from Yambol
This monastery based in Kabile is called The Birth of God’s Mother and run entirely by Nuns. Only 5 minutes drive or 15 minutes cycling from Yambol is a beautifully kept environment with a delightful garden, aviary with peacocks and and active beehives on site. Pure natural spring water is gathered here by locals and taken away in bottles on their visits, we were no exception on the day.

A Weir On the River Tundzha
If you walk to the North End of Yambol's City Park and follow the Tundzha River North bound after just 500 metres you will arrive at a weir. This is a favourite place for Yambol folk to fish. You can see numerous fish jumping up trying to get on the higher level of water, but always failing with the water currently not too high. Lovely place but too noisy for me over time with the constant sound of the crashing water.

A Walk in Yambol's City Park
Nothing more relaxing than walking in Yambol's City Park. Of the many walk within the park my favourite is the paved stoned path that runs parallel with the Tundzha River which you can just see to the right through the trees. Rain or shine it is a treat to have this within a few minutes away from home.

Back in Yambol
Well it's been a while for many reasons, but the photogenic attraction of Yambol has hit hard on one of its residents. Look forward to pictures of a City that has a talking points at every juncture!
A garage for sale in the Stara Planina area of Yambol. Seems to have been sprayed on quite a while ago so probably already sold. No guessing what is in the garage as they are used as a places of leisure and hobbies by the males of Yambol.
