Snow Covered Bridge over The Rose Garden Moat in Yambol City Park

A snow covered bridge sets the scene crossing over the moat that surrounds the Rose Garden in  Yambol's City Park. This picture was taken in the afternoon and as you can see hardly any footprints made on the path during the morning and early afternoon.

A Snow Cushioned Bench in Yambol's City Park

It is nice to have a cushion on Yambol's City Park benches. However, snow version cushions are not very practical or popular as a place to sit as you can see. Looks nice though.

Ex-Restaurant with Wooden Facade in Yambol

I always found this wooden facade an interesting when walking past. It used to be a decent restaurant in times past but no longer. The loud gambling ad above the facade somewhat invades the rustic element, shame.

Sunken road Sign in Yambol

A relatively new road sign on Yambol road has sunk into a pit during pavement repairs. No chance of motorists seeing this sign in its current position, good excuse for the police if questioned why they stopped on the side or parked up ahead.

Another Female Statue in Yambol City Park

This female statue is tucked away from the main walkways of Yambol City Park so not many people get to see it. Looks like she has lost her right foot somehow and not from frostbite.

The fountain in Yambol City Park has a covering of snow for a few days. this is an important landmark and seating area in the park and often filled with relaxing crowds even in Winter, But not today as you can see.

Cobblestones Still Popular on Roads in Yambol

Yambol has many cobblestoned roads, old fashion to many with boring tarmac substituted in many instances. So, when I saw a road being cobblestoned it was a pleasant surprise. It adds a distinctive character and durability to this particular stretch of road.

The Addams Family House in Yambol

Just before you enter Yambol City Park from the southside,you will find Yambol's Addams Family House. It has been in disrepair for many years which surprises me being in a prime position. Currently a pigeon home in the day and presumably a bat home in the night

Yambol Tennis Club Benches

These are the benches in Yambol Tennis Club in the the City Park. With a sprinkling of snow normal in the Bulgarian Winter, no tennis and no watchers until Spring.

No Yambol Coffee Drinkers Out Today

With the settled snow on table and chair and freezing temperatures there are no coffee drinkers outside in Yambol today. This is the first time this has happened this Winter.

Yambol Ladies of 1931 With White Shawls

The Ladies of Yambol from 1931 look like they all have white shawls given to them form the snow that fell recently. This of course happens every year so they are used to it.

Outdoor Snow Covered Gymnasium Deserted In Yambol's City Park

Not a soul to be seen working out in Yambol's City Park Gymnasium today. No surprises there then in freezing temperatures. Snow covered Yambol will be history in a day or so with temperatures forecast to reach double figures soon. 

Yambol's City Park Workers' Workplace

This is where the workers in Yambol's City Park hang out. No one about at this time as they are all working clearing the paths of snow. No shortage of wood here for their wood-burning stoves that run constantly throughout the winter in the workplace.

There was snow the night before with Yambol's River Tundzha enhanced today the backdrop of snowfall. Always a pleasure to cross this river not matter what time of the year.

Walking through the aisles  Yambol's Kaufland Supermarket I stumbled across something that I thought was very funny. There was a 7 Up bottle on the floor and all I could think of was it wasn't 7 Up anymore, more like 7 Down.

New Complex Nearly Complete in Yambol's City Park

Having regularly jogged past this North end of Yambol's City Park I have seen this complex being developed step by step. Now it is nearly complete. I think it is a hotel complex.

Christmas Reindeer and Sleigh Still Out in Yambol

It is well past 12 days after Christmas but the reindeer and sleigh still stand oj display in Yambol. Still visited and photographed out of the festive season. won't be there for much longer and out again at the end of the year no doubt.

No Fruit and Vegetables Today in Yambol's Bazaar

A strange sight today as I visited the local bazaar to stock up on some fruit and vegetables. There was only one stall working and that was scant with produce. not quite sure why no fruit and vegetables were being sold today. Maybe a New Year hangover?

Locals Ready to Dive for the Cross on Saint Jordan's Day in Yambol

Saint Jordan's Day brings out the locals ready to dive in the icy waters of River Tundzha to retrieve a cross thrown in by the local Priest. Big crowds gather to watch each year for an event unique to Bulgaria.

Saint Jordan Day (6th January) Service in Yambol

6th January is Sait Jordan Day in Bulgaria and a service is given each year in the town Church. After the service the priests march down to the River Tundzha, throw a cross in and it is retrieved by local in the icy waters.

Yambol Anglers Fishing in the Tundzha River

A beautiful warm sunny Sunday morning in Yambol bound to bring out the anglers onto the Tundzha River. On this occasion I joined them albeit didn't catch any fish today but other you see here did!.

Yambol's City Museum Air Conditioning System

Having walked past this hundreds of times it was a mystery until recently. It is the air conditioning system for Yambol's City Museum which is located about 40 metres away. It is a bit of an eyesore, concealing it with a few more bushes might be better.

It is Mid Winter in Yambol and all the drinking fountains are working in Yambol's City Park. A refreshing stop on my daily walk in the park like hundreds of others taking exercise there.

A bit of peace and quiet hits Yambol City Centre now the fountains have been turned off for the Winter. Notice the former names of Yambol on the wall.

Yambol's Tennis Courts Prepared for Winter

Work has finished Yambol's tennis courts and they are now prepared for Winter. Of course training and tennis lessons still goes on as you can see the indoor tennis facilities in the dome in the background.

New Year Orchestra Concert in Yambol's City Centre Museum

An Orchestra Concert was give in in Yambol's City Centre Museum as part of the New Year celebrations. As you would expect pieces included Johann Strauss with audience participation. Also Experts from Carmen with a superb soprano resonating the hall.
