On this warm an sunny Spring day it was noticed by many that the fountains in Yambol City Centre were without water. I can only guess they are being serviced and will be up an running soon. The sight, sound and atmosphere with the fountains running make a big difference.

A barred window gives a sight into the Turkish Mosque in Yambol. The bars far outdate the windows which still bear the protective tapes on the frame when installed recently.

The Turkish Mosque in Yambol is around 500 years old and is one of the oldest on the Balkan Peninsula although the exterior may not give this away having been renovated. This is the view from the West side.

Unobserved Mini Garden Under a Yambol Tree

Outside Yambols' Municipal Offices sits a tree which many look at above ground level. This is is natural as the tree has Christmas decorations on it throughout the year. However under the tree is a hidden mini garden unobserved by most. The circular evergreens does give a hint wanting to dance around that area.

We often see the Turkish Mosque in the Centre of Yambol as a whole but never notice the intricate architecture of the walls. This is one rock of hunders that has been cemented in creating the unique Turkish style used during the Ottoman rule.

No swingers in Yambol today and there's good reason. After a morning of snow the afternoon saw temperatures rise and a quick thaw leaving reservoirs of puddles everywhere. No children to be seen even though many like puddles.

Neglected Community Seating Area in Yambol's Main Hospital

This seating area is situated in Yambol's Main Hospital grounds provided for both patents and visitors. It has seemingly been neglected over the years to the point of not being functional now. Yet another example of the deterioration due to lack of funding of the health service in Yambol.

Ant Sculpture in Yambol's City Park

Near to the children's play are in Yambol's City Park you will find this creepy ant sculpture. It must scare quite a few people walking past it. Luckily it is cemented and bolted into the ground so can't move off.

Martenitsa Hanging From Trees in Yambol

There must have been a stork seen or buds blooming for Yambol folk to hang their Martentisa on trees. Well I saw a stork at the weekend but it wasn't in Yambol so I too have reason to hang mine as you can see. However many more to be seen in the surrounds of Yambol this week.

So, when it rains and the downpipe that takes the water down to ground level from the gutter causes wet walls, what do you do? In Yambol this problem is solved as you can see. The water is channelled away from the wall simply adapting a 10 litre plastic bottle.

Security Check Into Yambol's Hospital In Times Gone

This entrance into Yambol's Main Hospital used to have security checks in the past. Today it is a sorry sight seeing the abandonment of this bastion of Communist times. the posh apartments you see in the background were not there at this time. 

Concrete Umbrella Between Two Yambol Hospital Buildings

On a visit to the main hospital in Yambol I came across this strange architecture anomaly. A concrete umbrella styled structure between two buildings on the hospital grounds. Surely not just built to keep people dry en routs from one to the other building? In any case it is in a state of needing repair like most of the hospital's buildings. 

A Statue On The Outskirts of Yambol En Route To Kabile

If you follow the main Sliven Road out from Yambol you will come to a road turning right that leads to Kabile. On the corner you will find this statue watching you pass by. On a cycle it is easily spotted however in a car you might miss it by going to fast.

The Museum and Mosque a Stone's Throw Away in Yambol

For those who don't know the museum and Mosque are only a stone's throw away from each other in Yambol. Not that stones are thrown in the area. Always a pleasure to walk or cycle around this part of Yambol as do many locals. 

Never Ending Fencing in Yambol

Whilst the renovation of the main street leading into Yambol takes place a never ending fence has been erected. A sight for sore eyes right now, noisy and inconvenient trying to get form the North to South or visa versa in Yambol.

The Best Club in Yambol?

It says The Best Club, but in my experience there are better nightclubs in Yambol. With pop folk VIPs Emilia and Konstantin on the entrance one could be forgiven for thinking they are there and is therefore the best in Yambol

Major Pedestrian Pathway Renovation in Yambol City Centre

There is a major renovation well under way on the main pedestrian highway leading into Yambol Town Centre. This is noisy and inconvenient right now but I'm sure this rewards will be worth it.   

Modern Machinery Leaves Tree Graveyard in Yambol

I know it happens all around the world but seeing modern machinery causing trees to die leaving tre graveyards is a sorry sight. One good thing is that trees grow and machinery doesn't without humans, so there may be a time the trees will get their own back.  

Two Garages with Two toned Colours in Yambol

Just couldn't walk away from these two garages with their two toned colours. Also the transparency of the numbers, namely unshy and unassumingly related as 17A and 17B. You can see the family resemblance.

A Lada Police Car Parked up in Yambol

A white Lada Police Car was seen parked up. Not too sure it would be very effective in a police car chase. I was there when it was driven away with the engine and faulty exhaust causing a great din. Don't even think it was roadworthy with the noise it expelled.

A fence is only a metre away form the window so a slide was installed to deliver the mail. By the look of the wear on the slide is is well used.

This old drinking fountain was seen in Yambol today. I hasn't been used in years by the look of it. Guess the state do not care about such things since the end of the communist regime.

Pastel Coloured Benches Lined Up In Yambol

A fine array of pastel coloured benches was found totally vacated in Yambol today. In the summer these will be occupied to rest weary feet.

Statue of a Pregnant Woman Outside Yambol's Maternity Hospital

I guess if there is a place in Yambol for a statue of a pregnant woman it would have to be outside the Maternity Hospital. Well as a matter of fact that's where I found it.

Celebrating Bulgaria's Independence in Yambol

Saturday 3rd April Bulgaria celebrated 140 years of independence from the Ottoman rule. Yambol was in good spirit and proudly showing off their allegiance flying the Bulgarian flag. The stall seeliung them had some good business that day. Even bought on myself.

Yambol's Mosque Under Snow

This week has seen extreme low temperatures and heavy snowfall, not good if you are old and fragile, The bonus however is it creates great sceneries as in this case, namely Yambol's Mosque under Snow.

Snowman in Yambol

Out and about early this morning and found this snowman when I got back a few hours later. Looks like the children used a bucket to mold the snow. And a big smile on the face to finish it off.
