You just turn your back for a moment and nature overtake. It is often said that food grows faster than the pace of life in Yambol with a fine example here. A neglect home for a year is overtaken by a grapevine jungle.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

Blocked Garage Entrance Mystery in Yambol
This is a mystery where a garage entrance is seemingly blocked by a small garden patch and an old stump. The stump is old and must have been there fir many decades. Why would someone build a garage with this inconvenience in front of it? Like I said a mystery.

Cobblestone Maestro in Yambol
Yambol streets are bound for kilometres laid with cobblestones. Tried and trusted cobblestone Maestros are responsible for maintaining these identifiable characteristic roads that make Yambol what it is. Without them it would be boring tarmac and speeding traffic with more accidents from this.

Stairway to Heaven - Not in Yambol
This stairway leads to a broken down wooden door, beyond this it is unknown to most. Almost certainly it is no heaven as the song goes. Yambol is full of mysteries beyond closed doors this is an example with a grand lead up with the concrete stairway.

An Accidental Bitter/Sweet Decorated Lamp Post in Yambol
Many lamp posts are used as advertising mediums to mainly credit companies which I find quite invasive as I walk passed. This particular lamp post however took my eye with its almost fairground design. All done accidentally of course, but to good affect.

Neglect and Waste a Common Sight in Yambol
My blog description says that Yambol isn't the prettiest City in Bulgaria. This picture just typifies many areas of Yambol where you see neglect and waste. All part of the character of Yambol which to those who live with it is normal. But to visitors from the Western world quite a shock.

Sliva (Plums) Ripe for Picking on Yambol Streets
Food for free on the streets of Yambol is nearing the height of the season. This particular fruit is called sliva or plum. Sweet, full of vitamins and free to pick by passers by. Many people make rakia from these fruits but would probably look for a larger fruit variety.

A Row Of Post Boxes in a Yambol Apartment Block
this was spotted as I entered one of Yambol's many Apartment Blocks. As you can a row of wooden post boxes each one with it's own key. I like the ides of the two holes drilled in each box so you can see if mail is there.

Inside An Elevator In One Of Yambol's Apartment Blocks
This is a view of one of the many elevators that are in service in Yambol Apartment blocks. I can tell you now that this particular one is in very good condition compared to some of the lifts I have experienced. Even though in good condition, nerves hit when using it. Just don't like heights full stop!

Euro 1 Zone Shop Prominent in Yambol's City Centre High Street
With a very distinct and proud blue frontage this shop called Euro 1 Zone stands proud with cheap goods mostly from China and the Far East. Fills a need with poverty close at hand in Yambol with folk who needs to shop on a tight budget.

Children, Cuddly Toys Playing Sardines in Yambol City Centre
As I often walk past this toy shop in Yambol City Centre thoughts are for the cuddly toys that are seemingly just thrown in the shop front window. Forcibly made to play sardines and looking very uncomfortable.

June is a wonderful time of the year to walk the Linden Tree Lined Streets of Yambol. The fresh green foliage twinkled with the bright yellow blossom of the linden accompanied by the sweet narcotic scent is an absolute joy.

Linden Tree Blossoms Ready for Picking in Yambol
That familiar scent in the air in Yambol that comes from the Linden trees that are so abundant here. Many locals pick the blossoms which are now ready to be dried for a couple of days and used as an infusion for healthy herb tea. And all free! I also have my own supply picked this week now dried and stored ready fore use.

Insulting Name 'Lucky Cow' Seen in Yambol Supermarket
I found this quite funny but was shocked initially with the name of this packet of sirene cheese. Lucky Cow is an insulting way of addressing someone albeit quite innocent in its conception without a wider knowledge of the English langage. Needless to say I did''t buy it, but not from the point of the name.

Dragonfly Hovering Over The Pond in Yambol City Park
An attractive replica of nature displayed before me as the dragonfly is seen hovering above the pond in Yambol City Park. Many locals are seen photographing this scene as you can see today in this picture.

Graffiti Art on Canvas Rather than Walls in Yambol City Park
Much more pleasing to the eye seeing graffiti art on canvas rather than illegally sprayed onto walls in the middle of the night. These examples shown are displayed in Yambol City Park, always a favourite venue to show of works from local Graffiti Artists.

It has been quite a few months were the public cannot enter Yambol City Park due to the bridge being closed for renovation. There is now signs that it is nearing completion and will be so much more convenient for thousands who have to walk to the North entrance some distance away.

Red Sycamore Seeds Ready to Helicopter Down in Yambol
I've seen literally hundreds of sycamore trees and their helicopter seeds ready to fall, but this is the first time I have seen a red variety. What fun it is to throw these seeds in the air and watch them helicopter down to the ground directed by the wind; Childish but fun!

Lilies Flowering In Yambol's City Park Pond
Always a treat to see flowers blossoming no matter what variety. These Lilies are more special than most and of course untouchable being in the middle of the pond in Yambol's City Park so they remain unpicked by the admiring passing public.

Cats Sleeping on a Car Bonnet in Yambol
Strange place to see cats sleeping, but my neighbour's car bonnet is a favourite haunt for these tired cats. Busy all night chasing mice and rats, they deserve their rest. My neighbour is a cat lover by the way so he doesn't mind at all about this.

Yambol's Only Ginkgo Biloba Tree in Yambol City Park
Well did you guess that this Ginkgo Biloba Tree was in Yambol's City Park. Where else would you find it having been planted purposely to add to the enormous varieties of existing trees there. Notice the lowest branches are above the reach of people due to the leaves being taken as far as they can.

The Only Ginkgo Biloba Tree Known in Yambol
As far as I know this is the only place in Yambol where you will find a Ginkgo Biloba tree. (Just the label given here.) Prior to this year this label was not here and not many people knew about it. A friend pointed it out to me some seven or eight years ago. Can you guess where it is situated?
