The Tundzha Hotel In All Its Glory in Yambol

Seen on a glorious sunny summer day the Tundzha Hotel stands in glory on the outskirts of the Yambol City Centre over looking the park. Far too glamorous for me if I had to choose a Hotel in Yambol, but suits most tourist that come here.

Path Leading to The Gates of Yambol City Park

Coming from the centre of Yambol City Centre passing the Tundzha Hotel on the left this path leads to Yambol City Park with its new gated entrance. Calm, peaceful and clean are three main attributes to this area of Yambol.

The Piano Bar, Fading Away With Time in Yambol

the Piano Bar Restaurant has been closed for business for quite a few years now. It remains dormant and fading away with time. Such a shame as many folk had good things to say about it, not least live piano music. I also had the opportunity to practice on he piano in the restaurant some time ago not having one in my home. Another pity it is no longer a functional business.

Yambol's DIY Hazard Ahead Road Sign

This manhole access has just been repair and the DIY sign to warn traffic of this hazard ahead is very basic but effective improvisation. Not unique in Yambol as this system is used in many instances, always amusing it has to be said.

Sinbad, Yambol's Well Established Fast Food Joint

If you ever fancy a hamburger, a piece of pizza or any fast food this is the place to visit in Yambol. Sinbad ever popular as a place to snack on fast food in a sheltered seating area.

A view of the South side of St Nicholas Church in Yambol. Spectacular churches not just in Yambol but all over Bulgaria never fail to impress and they are always open for the public for peace, quiet and solitude. Also, it is probably the coolest place to be in Yambol on a hot summer day.  

Reminder of Russian Sacrifices in 1944 in Yambol

this is part of a bigger memorial reminding us of the sacrifices made to by Russians in 1944. These monuments are always respected in the main in Yambol and maintained regularly by the local municipal council.

Flower Laden Cart Placed in Cafe Area in Yambol

Not many people see this flower laden cart placed in Yambol as it is tucked away in a side street off the main pedestrian walkway (Rakovski Street). the trouble is it attracts bees and wasps so I tend to sit a distance from the cart to avoid being pestered.

Cafe Culture Society in Yambol

A row of multiple cafes in Yambol has been established as part of Yambol cafe culture society for many years now. Always a pleasure sitting in the shade of the sun with a cool drink people watching as the day goes by. Unlike the UK, you can buy just one coffee and sit there for two hours plus without any protest of moving on from staff.

Looking Eastwards Towards Yambol's Municipal Centre

A view of the Municipal Centre in Yambol facing East. Most people avoid walking this stretch in the Summer due to the heat from the glaring sun and take a more tree sheltered route which you can't see in this picture on the right hand side.

Yambol Post Office With Fountain Foreground

One of the big landmarks in Yambol is the Yambol Post Office. This picture was taken from the South with a water fountain in the foreground. A nice place to sit, (I am on a bench) and wait for people as it is probably the the most popular meeting place in Yambol. 

A Classic Trabant 601 in Yambol

Always a pleasure to see a trabant on the road even though the 2 stroke engine is bad for the environment. This East German made car still runs well as I see the owner quite often drive off and return. Pity it is not garaged as it is a sought after model and worth preserving.

A Door and Entrance With Character in Yambol

There is always an element of mystery behind closed doors, this is no exception. In addition the wooden door, surround and steps leading up to it ooze character and give out a big shout for rustic scenery. Love it!

Brand New Ramp on Yambol Road with Flower Bed

A renovated ramp has been completed with a newly laid flower bed on a Yambol Road and a vast improvement on the previous ramp as photographed last year. (Can be seen here: wheelchair-access-in-yambol). Work very well riding my bicycle up and down it as well as many others folk here.

New Bridge Now Open in Yambol City Park

After many months of inconvenience the new bridge giving an entrance to Yambol City Park is now open. And a fine bridge it is with the Bulgarian flag flying as you enter. Well worth the wait.

Mysterious Apparatus Standing in Yambol

Having walked past this mysterious apparatus countless times, I still can't figure out what its purpose is. Could be a seating area, but doesn't look comfortable enough. Could be a children play area that has bits missing, who knows, but is is still standing. I've never seen anyone use it in any way.

Camouflaged Hunting Shop in Yambol

This hunting shop is appropriately camouflaged pertaining to the hunting theme. However it is not good for business trying to hide the shop. Also it says on the outside it sells fishing equipment but inside there are no angling goods to be found.

A Neat Array of Apartment Block Post Boxes in Yambol

Numbered in order this neart array of Post Boxes is situated on the ground floor of an Apartment Block in Yambol. Between numbers 117 and 118 is a box without a number; Strange!

Another Old Bench Full of History in Yambol

There is something about old benches that are scattered about in Yambol that appeals. With numerous coats of paint revealed and rotted wood in places it still functions well as a seating place under the shade of tree in the hot mid summer. This bench could tell some stories of conversations held on the bench if it could speak.

Newly Planted Ginkgo Biloba Tree in Yambol

With the only known Ginkgo Biloba Tree in Yambol in the City Park, it is nice to know that folk are trying to add to this by planting more in other area. This took my eye due to the improvised protection given by old bit of concrete remnants from footpaths. So Bulgarian in fashion!

Old Classic Childrens' Slide in Yambol

This childrens' slide goes back to Communist times and is still standing although not used anymore. Health and safely would not allow this design to be accessed to children with sharp metal edges and no handrails. In my opinion confronting and learning to deal with dangers is all part of the learning cycle for children.

Distinctive Decorated Iron Fence in Yambol

Could help admiring this simple iron fence which with its contrasting colours make it very distinctive. Added to the design is a symmetrical element that compliments the fence well.

Yambol's City Park fountain has constantly changing views as the season flow through. Never dull, always a refreshing and a joy to see the summer flowers surrounding and in full bloom this time round.

Yambol Train Station Seen from a Bridge Afar

As seen from afar on a bridge walkway, Yambol Train Station is patiently waiting for a train to arrive. Always a joy to watch the hypnotic brown an rusted railway lines leading your eye to the station. And alway full of expectation of seeing a train, but on this occasion not.

A Unique Access to a Generator in Yambol

I found this quite unique when sighted today. The ladder giving to access to the generator at the top on a platform seemed quite strange, but I sure it was the most practical way to get to it. Not quite sure what is happening to the open manhole below though.

Yambol Bread Factory - Active or Not?

A very distinctive building you cannot fail to notice when passing is the Yambol Bread Factory. Whenever I pass there is not much going on here and no smell of fresh bread. With this I'm not sure where they are still on production, however breadmaking takes place usually overnight and in the early hours. So it may be the calm after the early storms of bread production that I miss each time.

A Generally Unknown Spring Source in Yambol

This was a gem of a find just 1 kilometre from Yambol City Centre. A spring source by the roadside unknown to most other than locals. I often ride past here but it is too early or too late to fill water bottles for my ride. I will not give the location away so it remains a gem to others when found.

A Significant Factory by the Railroad in Yambol

Not quite sure what is made or processes in this significant factory by the railroad, but it is a big feature on the landscape leaving Yambol heading towards Sliven. Shipping by rail is great but many lorries still are used to move goods, which is a shame on the environment

Yambol's Metal Reclaiming Centre

Just a couple of Kilometres northbound from Yambol city Centre you will find Yambol's Metal Reclaiming Centre where secondhand metal is handed in for cash per kilo. There is a weighbridge used to weigh vehicles before and after unloading the metal to calculate the weigh difference and settle payments.

Free Flowing Tundzha River Begging For Anglers

On a warm sunny day in Yambol the Tundzha River flows freely begging to Anglers to take their place. In fact there are two Anglers in this stretch but hidden behind bushes in their camouflage outfits.

With Bulgarian National coloured finish these outdoor parallel Bars and High Bar are well used in Yambol from people of all ages and regularly maintained and painted.
