Road Signs Nailed and Clustered on a Yambol Tree

Road Signs, Nailed, Clustered, Yambol, Tree,

Road sign in Yambol come in a variety of modes. This one is quite common with a cluster of signed nailed to a tree in Yambol. Quite interesting that driver ignore them in the main and not for the reason of  a canopy from the tree obscuring the view.

Typical Bad Car Driver in Yambol

Well what's wrong with this car approaching this road junction? Most wouldn't bat an eyelid in Yambol with this scene of a car driving the wrong direction up a one way street. It is typical of many car drivers who have no regard to road signs - and they get away with it. However, if I did it I'd get fined! That is the way of Bulgaria and Yambol is no exception. At this this driver is letting the pedestrian cross, or are they waiting to pounce once in the road? I know what happened next anyway.

One Way Traffic In Yambol - The Wrong Way

One way traffic, but the wrong way as you can see in the picture. Typical of drivers in Yambol who tend to go where there is a space rather than being told to by pointless road signs.

Where Has The Yambol Sign Gone?

When I saw this road sign frame without the sign I immediately thought of the metal sign being taken for scrap by gypsies whose big community is nearby. Who knows where it went, or was it the victim of wild winds in the recent storms we have had recently?

Where Did This Yambol Road Sign Come From?

A road sign was found on a private garage. One wonders where this was taken. It works very well as no one was parked in front of the gates. Somewhere on Yambol road this sign is no missing of course.

Road Signs Of The Times In Yambol

It is noticeable that road sign in Yambol are changing to EU uniformed style and becoming more frequent. This is a change for the worse as far as I see it. This picture could now be quite easily be mistaken for another EU country and has not real identity or character. A sign of the times in Yambol indeed.

Another Hand Painted Road Sign In Yambol

Hand painted road sign in Yambol are one of the great pleasures that I get in walking the streets. I know that very soon they will all disappear and become EU uniform and official. This one has a nice little tractor and bus draw both of which are not allowed on this route. As I stood and took this picture a BMV sped past me at well over 40 Kmph! Naughty but common on Yambol roads, even with massive pot holes.

Soon To Be Obsolete Yambol Road Signs

Soon To Be Obsolete Yambol Road Signs
Most of Yambol’s road sign are now being replaced with International sterile signs and has lost their individuality. It is nice still to see there are still original Bulgarian road sign albeit in poor condition. They give the same message but with more character and less aggressive. These Yambol road signs will all be obsolete very soon now. Shame.

An Official Bulgarian Road Sign

An Official Bulgarian Road Sign
This is seen regularly on Bulgarian roads. It mean beware a hazard is here and in place where there are major pot holes, wet cement around drains that have just been repaired, or in place of a missing drain. In fact these green painted tyres are used on a regular basis. Why pay good money on cones when a couple of painted recycled car tyres will do? In some cases the wheel trim is placed in the tyre, perhaps a VIP in the City on these ocassions. By the way, the unofficial road signs for beware of hazard in the road are twigs and branches.

Brand New Road Signs In Yambol

Brand New Road Signs In YambolRecently I have seen many new road sign around Yambol. This one stands out, and it should, as a very bright warning to motorists that there are children ahead, usually just before a school, you can see the old fashion type further along the road in the distance. These really do stand out here in winter, but once the spring comes the bright vegetation around will give it some camouflage.

A Lada Police Car - Is it Road Worthy?

A Lada Police Car - Is it Road Worthy? It was late afternoon as I caught sight of a Lada police car passing me, so I managed to get a photograph of the vehicle. It was gone in a flash and I didn't really get a good look at it until I got home this evening. It makes me wonder if these cars get through their road test each year. The car must be about 20 years old, but it obviously won't be used in car chases - very rare in Yambol anyway - but just for carrying around road signs, cones and other bulk equipment in the back. I feel that the days of sights like this are numbered now.

Kids Running Across the Road

Kids Running Across the Road
I just love this road sign, not just because it is hand painted but for it's raw advice. It is telling you that there is a school ahead and that children are running across the road. Oh so true and good advice to kids with Bulgarian drivers on the road. To be far the state of the roads lend themselves to be driven over slowly anyway so no real need for the speed limit sign.

Yambol Green Road Signs

Yambol Green Road SignsTypical way of telling driver to avoid a manhole that has just been repaired, just stick a branch of a tree there. It is kind of pretty, environmentally friendly and definitely Bulgarian.
