Back onto the series of apartment blocks in Yambol it is block number 44 this time around. t is here because a former resident of 20 years ago requested the insert into this blog. Dimitar misses his Father's smile and the faithful Lada whilst he used to live there, which he says were the best years of his life! Notice the red carpets hanging out in the glassed balcony, they'll be dry in no time with this sun.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

Hello Martin,
ReplyDeletethanks for the photo.
Just a little history. The buildings there were built by the homeowners themselves.
I was a student at lannguages school "Vasil karagiozov" at that time. I participated during the building, helping to the main construction worker with with briks, moving matereals etc.
In less than 2 years the house was ready.
It was a very nice house. And I think this is still the best area of Yambol today. However there was some delay with telephones and other services.
Our apartment was in entrance G in the corner. There is some story with every object there. I can't forget the smell of "kufteta" that my mother did on the balcon.
Thanks from Montreal
Hi Dimitar,
ReplyDeleteA really fascinating insight to the history of the apartments. I know exactly what you mean by the smell and indeed taste of the 'kufteta' as our Baba does the same thing on a regular basis! The area is still one of the best to live in Yambol.
Regards fro your home town.
Martin
