What was formerly the Dublin Bar is now a restaurant with no name. Open for business and very popular in the centre of Yambol City Centre with seats filled up inside. Strange not to have a name though.
Sunday, 30 December 2018
Recently opened in the City Centre of Yambol is the New Park which now has many locals using the paths and benches lined up. What a lovely area to relax and chill out now especially when the warmer weather arrives.
Saturday, 29 December 2018
Mid Winter in Yambol but you wouldn't think so seeing locals doing their cafe society habits on this sunny day. Parasol down to let the warm sun shine on customers give the season away though.

Thursday, 27 December 2018
Charity begins at home and this is typified by this simple gesture by a kind soul for neighbours living together in a Yambol apartment block.
Wednesday, 26 December 2018
Children flock to see the Blue Santa in Yambol City Centre. they just love him and his Queen. As yo can see it is the most popular place for family photographs this Christmas. There is a queue for pictures to be taken.
Tuesday, 25 December 2018
There is something special about this Christmas tree decorated by the local community in Yambol. Simple, from the heart and effective to communicate the festive spirit in a community where many struggle with poverty.
Monday, 24 December 2018
Nature can be strange sometimes and in Yambol there is an example with this tree trunk that has formed with a gaping hole. It goes unnoticed in the main as hundreds of people pass each day. Interesting nature formations seemingly ignored.
Sunday, 23 December 2018
Well to date there has only been two days of snow in Yambol, but it doesn't stop these snowmen from playing and giving fun the locals who see them as they walk past. Happy days and snow will arrive no doubt soon.
Saturday, 22 December 2018
Once again Christmas arrives in Yambol City Centre. Very similar if not the same as last year with a blue themed Father Christmas figure and his wife? (Who looks like a queen.( Seemingly quite confusing albeit the reindeer and sleigh swing the vote on the fact this is indeed Father Christmas. Simple but locals love the display!
Friday, 21 December 2018
This is the waste bin situated by the coach stop outside Yambol City Park just after a coach had departed fro Sofia the Capital of Bulgaria. As you can see and effort has been made to use the bin but it just couldn't cope with the volume of litter from passengers, This is seen quite often.
Thursday, 20 December 2018
Seen from the Southbank of the River Tundzha is Yambol City Park Bridge with the Bulgarian National Flag flying at the far end. ost people enter and leave the park from this area.
Wednesday, 19 December 2018
This rock was found in a children's play area in Yambol. There are a couple of other play areas for children where rocks are left in their natural state. Blends in nicely with the environment and of course safe and eco friendly,
Tuesday, 18 December 2018
Not a particularly warm and sunny day in Yambol, in fact very cold and cloudy, but the Hotel Tundzha still stands dominantly as viewed form the entrance of Yambol City Park.
Monday, 17 December 2018
Laying dormant for over two years the former Dublin Bar is in the process of being renovated. However, will it be the Dublin Bar anymore or take on another name? A short wait will tell.
Sunday, 16 December 2018
After around 18 months of chaos, Yambol City Centre park is finally open and what a relief. What with all the noise and inconvenience with fenced off areas it is a treat worth waiting for. Summertime will see this park full of visitors filling the new benches that line each path.
Saturday, 15 December 2018
Displayed outside Yambol Central Post Office is a big sign giving information with the days and time of opening. It is translated into English and very useful to the many expats and tourists that speak English here in Yambol.
Friday, 14 December 2018
Having walked under this structure many times, it does take my eye each time with the interesting architectural design that supports a former political party building.
Thursday, 13 December 2018
It is no surprise seeing a cafe with no customers with sub zero temperatures in Yambol today. Of course what yo don't see is the packed inside areas where people are now sat.
Wednesday, 12 December 2018
The Pizza Rock and Roll Restaurant tucked away just of Rakovski Street next the the casino. this restaurant was recently featured on National Television with the famous Bulgarian celebrity chef Ivan Mandchev.
Tuesday, 11 December 2018
Probably on of the most famous landmark in Yambol the theatre sits proudly in the City Centre always looking fit enough for royalty to attend. With a full calendar of events to entertain folk it remains very much part of Yambol's rich culture.
Monday, 10 December 2018
Most pictures of this water fountain are taken in mid summer with the fountains working. Rarely do yo see picture without the fountain working in Yambol. Well this is one of them, but of a pool not a water fountain as you can see. Still has a beauty about it with the water mirror feature though.
Sunday, 9 December 2018
This pot plant standing next to a lampost in Yambol isn't going anywhere. I love the design of the wired container filled with rocks keeping the pot plant firmly stationary and secure. It is owned by Momo Pizza Restaurant just out of the picture.
Saturday, 8 December 2018
Neatly and arranged in regimental fashion, these canopy stands have to bear the coming winter before they are applied with their covers in the Spring. Always find these quite soothing to look at due to their appearance of being on stand and alert.
Friday, 7 December 2018
At long last the pedestrian walkway, namely Rakovski Street has opened. As far as the eye can see this walkway will bring pleasureful traffic free walks and cycling for many years to come. This turns Yambol into a more beautiful place to visit and I'm glad I'm part of that.
Thursday, 6 December 2018
This road is closed to traffic but is being used consistently by drivers in Yambol over the last six months. No one bats an eyelid with this even with road labours and police around. Mind you, I do the same!!
Wednesday, 5 December 2018
Quite an unusual place to find a pair of trainer here. Hgh flying on overhead cable and obvious oloy by youngsters in the area. Did the same sort of thing when I was a kid so why an I surprised? Can't see how they will be retrieved in this instance without a tall A-ladder.
Tuesday, 4 December 2018
Yet another house number in Yambol which is quite unique. It is becoming more usual to find the odd household getting away from the convention of the old blue communism house number as seen in my previous post recently.
Monday, 3 December 2018
Having recently shown a picture of a typical house number which is seen in most Yambol homes (A Typical Yambol House Number) this one is different. It even has the street name added. It stands out because it is against the norm as said before.

Saturday, 1 December 2018
This is one of the things I love about Yambol and Bulgaria. Practical use of things that would normally be thrown away. The example shown is probably some packing from some white goods put to good use to cover the car and protect albeit just the front end. It works just as well as a designer canopy that cost money. Bravo!
Friday, 30 November 2018
This is the third time in space of a year this has happened. Someone has dumped hot ashes for their woodburner in the wheelie bin and from one set of ashes to another. It really is ashes to ashes and a melting death for this wheelie bin. It must be the same person who probably is the same person who complains about the cost of municipal services!
Thursday, 29 November 2018
Plastic is something that is a hot topic right no so it is refreshing to see a children play area in Yambol made out of wood. Okay, they might get one or two splinters, but not only is it a biodegradable element it blends in with the area that is lined with trees anyway.
Wednesday, 28 November 2018
The Moskvitch is a Russian designed car but was produced in Bulgaria between 1966 and 1990. This is probably one of them which is in very good condition. I see many of these cars around but rarely in prime condition. This one was found in Kaufland Supermarket car park
Tuesday, 27 November 2018
In the jungle of fallen trees on the bank of the River Tundzha is a wonderful display of autumn colours. It livens up an area of decay before the grey colours of winter arrive.
Monday, 26 November 2018
Situated near to the old Bazaar South of the River Tundzha you will find a popular Gymnasium used by many for fitness. Having used this many times myself it is ideal for winter fitness activities when the weather is not suitable for cycling or jogging. They have all the modern equipment there and the staff and clients are all very friendly and welcoming.
Sunday, 25 November 2018
Saturday, 24 November 2018
This is the relatively new ABC Builders' Merchant Retail Store in Yambol, just a stone's throw away from their other old store. Well used by many trader in Yambol and beyond. The store front has a distinct modern outlook with the bright colours on the facade.
Friday, 23 November 2018
Well established over the years is the Mercury Hotel in Yambol. Having spent a few nights there many moons ago, not much has changed with its unassuming position laid back from the main road. Looking at it you may not recognise it as a hotel business.
Thursday, 22 November 2018
Surprises never cease on the streets of Yambol. Yet another example today when a fluffy dog suddenly appeared from behind a fence whilst I was walking by. It startled me for a moment but then I had to take a picture of this cuddly bear like canine.
Wednesday, 21 November 2018
One of the many scenic sight whilst using the walkway by the River Tundzha in Yambol City Park. On a lovely sunny warm autumn day is a a real pleasure and treat to use this environment.
Tuesday, 20 November 2018
Situated near to Yambol's Winery Villa Yambol, you will find a place called 'The Castle' It is a strange building and kind of out of sort with the environment where it sits. Not quite sure who owns it or why it as built but there are still workmen working on the building when I was there today.
Monday, 19 November 2018
Use by thousands of folk each day to enter and exit Yambol City Park, the ne bridge is a fine feature of the City. Spanning the River Tundzha who has a beauty all of its own compliments the scenery perfectly, especially on a sunny day.
Sunday, 18 November 2018
Walking along the Tundzha River the Hotel Tundzha can be seen from the riverbank. As always towering over the City a dominant feature and and obvious landmark with this capacity.
Saturday, 17 November 2018
Dogs get thirsty as well as humans so it is a great idea to set up a water trough for dogs in Yambol City Park. This is alongside a water drinking fountain and bench for the dogs owners as well.
Friday, 16 November 2018
Dogs can be a nuisance in parks due to inconsiderate owners even with a fenced dog compound facility for dogs to exercise without leads. It is used by responsible folk which is nice to see being a jogger in the park.
Thursday, 15 November 2018
After warming up with a little walk along Yambol's Tundzha River, if you walk don the bank and follow the path you will find the City Park Gymnasium. Only built a year ago this is used by many folk in the park and lots of children which is good for the future health of Yambol citizens.
Wednesday, 14 November 2018
Ho luck are we in Yambol to have such a scenic footpath to walk along by the River Tundzha. Frequented by people of all ages but calm and not as well used as the main path through the Yambol City Park.
Tuesday, 13 November 2018
Such a lovely spot to sit by the River Tundzha with a lonely bench begging to be sat upon. Situation in Yambol City Park this walk by the River is one of the many treats mixing with nature to behold in Yambol.
Monday, 12 November 2018
With all the renovations being made in Yambol City Park there is an appeal to new things. These brand new benches look so inviting to sit on. I might also add when I did sit on them they were very comfortable and supportive for bad backs.
