A shop in Yambolnow provides a parking space for customers who have dogs. No place to park a car though!
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

Water Trough for Dogs in Yambol City Park
Dogs get thirsty as well as humans so it is a great idea to set up a water trough for dogs in Yambol City Park. This is alongside a water drinking fountain and bench for the dogs owners as well.

Two Guard Dogs on Patrol in Yambol
As you walk past this Yambol house and yard two guard dogs approach. They are a common sight in Yambol as guard dogs work very well protecting from petty theft. These particular dogs are not tied up with chains and have an enclosed area in which to roam with shelter at the back. they may look friendly but trespass at your own risk!

Block 41 In Yambol
Blck 41 in Yambol with the wheely bin rubbish service clearly seen. The bins get searched out for recyclable stuff daily by Bulgarians and Gypsies alike so only 'real' rubbish is disposed of in landfill sites. The left over food of course is scavenged by dogs, cats, mice and rats. 41 is a nice block al the same, I bet Buckingham Palace in London have rats around!

One Of Many Stray Dogs In Yambol
Everywhere you look in Yambol you see stray dogs roaming and littering the streets. Packs of stray dogs are a big danger to the public with attacks regularly being reported, many more aren't. These dogs are now meant to be all tagged but that doesn't solve the problem. Well ar least they keep the cat populaton down.

A Yambol Factory Security Dog
Picking up my partner from work everyday I see many dogs that guard the factory grounds. Their environment is basic, but they do get fed well with much of the food coming from our home and left over meals thrown to them as the workers leave after work. This particular dog's home is the barrel you can see in the picture. Their job is to bark at anything that moves and they all do. I dread to think what these dogs could do if the metal chain wasn't secure.Wednesday, 10 December 2008
Typical Yambol Stray Dog
Dogs in Yambol are all over the place, both as loners and in packs. Today I saw a loner, they are sorry looking animals but never go hungry as there are many rubbish bins about for them to scavenge before the gypsies get there. If you approach the dog they shy away as most Bulgarians just kick them away. If they are in packs they have a bit more courage with humans and shouldn't really be approached. This particular dog won't last long as it is in a heavy traffic area and will get run over soon. This unfortunately is how it is here.
