A stonemason factory situated opposite Yambol's cemetery with the main business making gravestones as you would expect. This is not the only place locally that make these with much competition to similar masons close by.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

A Significant Factory by the Railroad in Yambol
Not quite sure what is made or processes in this significant factory by the railroad, but it is a big feature on the landscape leaving Yambol heading towards Sliven. Shipping by rail is great but many lorries still are used to move goods, which is a shame on the environment

The Yambol Kabile Factory
This big factory called Kabile enploys manyt local workers. I see them arrvie at 8:00 and finish at 17:00. Mainly it is exclusively middle aged women who work there doing boring manual work all day. At least they can chat whilst working to get them through the day no doubt on a minimum wage. These women are lucky though to have jobs right now.

A Yambol Factory Guard Dog

Driving past a factory on the outskirts of Yambol I came across a guard dog whose home is under the security guard’s hut. A tray of water and no doubt a daily round of bread in the morning and evening is the dog’s diet. Barking is the job and this dog does it well as I approached.

A Yambol Factory Security Dog
Picking up my partner from work everyday I see many dogs that guard the factory grounds. Their environment is basic, but they do get fed well with much of the food coming from our home and left over meals thrown to them as the workers leave after work. This particular dog's home is the barrel you can see in the picture. Their job is to bark at anything that moves and they all do. I dread to think what these dogs could do if the metal chain wasn't secure.Thursday, 4 December 2008
Yambol Bread Factory

This is where they make яамбол хлаб (Yambol bread). It is made daily and delivered all around the Tunzhda district and to every village in the area. No presevatives are put inot the bread at it last only a couple of days before 'going off'. But then Bulgarians normally shop for the food on a daily basis so no problems there. The price of bread by the way has increased 300% over the last two years.

Yambol's Yazaki Factory

The Japanese company Yazaki based in Yambol around 4 km on the Sliven road. They produce Renault car parts. Yazaki employs over 2000 local Bulgarians and Galia's son is one of them. This picture was taken as I took him there and dropped him off this morning.

Yambol Factory Farm
This is the back of a factory in Yambol where the workers grow their own food. This is typical of the other side to the industrial area of Yambol. Gardening in their break times in normal. the food goes back to their families when harvested. A good balance of industry and the environment surrounding it.365bulgarianadventures
