 Mid-winter and amongst the thousands of grapevines in Yambol it is natures miracle that fine grapes arise from what is seemingly deadwood. Dormant vines under snow in Winter is like a grape graveyard now, but a little warm weather and life will return.

 Well after a week since the last snowfall, there is still snow hanging around Yambol. Proof indeed that it has been very cold over the last seven days.

A Snow Cushioned Bench in Yambol's City Park

It is nice to have a cushion on Yambol's City Park benches. However, snow version cushions are not very practical or popular as a place to sit as you can see. Looks nice though.

No Yambol Coffee Drinkers Out Today

With the settled snow on table and chair and freezing temperatures there are no coffee drinkers outside in Yambol today. This is the first time this has happened this Winter.

Yambol Ladies of 1931 With White Shawls

The Ladies of Yambol from 1931 look like they all have white shawls given to them form the snow that fell recently. This of course happens every year so they are used to it.

Outdoor Snow Covered Gymnasium Deserted In Yambol's City Park

Not a soul to be seen working out in Yambol's City Park Gymnasium today. No surprises there then in freezing temperatures. Snow covered Yambol will be history in a day or so with temperatures forecast to reach double figures soon. 

Yambol Stalls Closed - Not Due To Snow

You may be forgiven for looking at this shot and thinking these stalls are closed due to the snow that surrounds them. Well you are wrong, it is Sunday and they don't work on Sundays. Theses stalls are seasonally and are only there for special festive calendar occasions in Yambol. They certainly look like regimental soldiers lined up there and present a fine photo I don't mind admitting. 

Yambol City Centre Under Snow

The colourful flags of the EU, Bulgaria and Yambol stand out in the brilliant white snow that it finds itself under recently. The almost clear blue sky means it's cold as well, below freezing all day. I was glad to get back home after and our of walking around on this day.

A Snow Hidden Yambol Lada

After another bout of snow, I walked up the road for a loaf of bread from my local shop. It was with great comfort that I realised my own Lada wasn't the only one that had been hidden from sight due to the amount of snow that had fallen. In fact all you can see of this car is the 'Lada 2104' motif. I have a sneaking suspicion that this Lada has a roof rack

Look Out! A Speeding Yambol Sledger

As I made my way up the steep snow covered Borovets Hill in Yambol I had to jump out of the way of a speeding sledge coming down. I just caught the back end of the sledger as I saw him disappear uncontrolled down the hill. I don't know what became of the sledger, I just hope he didn't hurt himself when his run ended. As you can see I was quite a way up the hill with at least one kilometre climbed. I just wish I had a sledge to do the same thing.

Yambol's Snow Covered Traffic Lights

Snow has sat on this set of Yambol traffic lights for a few days now, it hasn't budged with the temperatures well below freezing during the day. Also they remain amber and it is quite entertaining seeing the traffic doing 'The Dare' when approaching this junction and lots of near misses and horns sounding. I'm not sure why many traffic lights in Yambol are part time.
