Summer Fall in Yambol

You may be forgiven for thinking that it is Autumn in Yambol seeing these bags filled with fallen leaves. But is it early summer and the debris collected is from linden trees that were subject to high winds the day before.

Another Place to Sit Out in Summer in Yambol

In the heat of summer, it is always nice to have a place in the shade outside to sit. This is typical of many in Yambol outside an apartment block.

A Concrete Circle Ready for the Summer Circus in Yambol

Concrete Circle, Summer, Circus, Yambol,
It may be vacant right now, but this concrete circle will hold the summer circus and other events such as funfairs later in the year. An ideal location on the outskirts of Yambol City Park.

Mid Winter in Yambol Yet Summer Cafe Society Habits Remain

Mid Winter, Yambol, Summer, Habits, Cafe Society,

Mid Winter in Yambol but you wouldn't think so seeing locals doing their cafe society habits on this sunny day. Parasol down to let the warm sun shine on customers give the season away though.

A Yambol Car Hibernating in Summer

Yambol, Car, Hibernating, Summer,

Hibernation usually takes place in Winter, but for one car in Yambol it happens in the Summer. With the natural cover of low tree branches and a nylon cover, that car sure looks cosy. and of course protected from the searing heat of the summer sun. I did wonder whether the owner owns that garage behind it though!?

Sign of Autumn in Yambol

This fruit juice stand is usually open all hours during the late Spring and Summer in Yambol. The lid is shut now and will remain shut through to next Spring. Yes indeed a sign of Autumn's arrival despite the warm weather we are getting this week.

A Yambol Currency Exchange Bureau

One of Yambol's tucked away currency exchange bureaus sits in the semi basement just short walk from the City centre. I used to use this regularly on trip to Bulgaria, but no need now I'm living here again. As you can see the pound is at a very low rate again the leva. they say this is normal int he summer and turns around when the winter arrives.

Logs Piled for Winter in Yambol

Another common sight throughout the year is logs piled for winter in Yambol. They stay out most of the year to dry out in the summer ready for the winter so this you would also see in the summer, not necessarily on the first floor though. Quite a cosy sight all the same.

A Truck Full of New Wood Parked in Yambol

You may think that now almost in the height of summer, wood for heating homes would be the last thing you's see on the streets. Think again! During the beginning of summer this is also the height of the wood delivery services. The reason is that they will be stored and take the summer and autumn to dry out ready for use in the coming winter. Also, and perhaps more important, the wood is cheaper this time of year!

Yambol Water Fountain - Dry

Yambol Water Fountain - Dry
Every since first coming to live in Yambol I have only seen this water fountain working a handful of times. Today is a normal day for the fountain which is stone dry. I presume the fountain is not broken, but just not operating to save on water and electric in these hard financial times. No doubt we will see it up and running again in the summer, it makes such a difference and a happy feeling when working.

The Tables And Chairs Are Out In Yambol Again

The Tables And Chairs Are Out In Yambol Again
We are just barely into the second week in February and Bulgaria is having an exceptionally warm few days, The tables and chairs were out again in Yambol and not for the first time this year; today was cooler than yesturday. This very much brings back the thoughts of the long summers here, which actually only seems like yesterday anyway.
