Homemade Flame Grilled Peppers on Yambol Streets

This man flame grilling locally grown peppers is a common sight this time of year in Yambol. A very simple and rewarding affair where the food is prepared for Winter feasts in the extreme cold weather experienced here. It goes without saying that we did the same thing this week.

Rust On Yambol's City Centre Paving Showpiece

Having seen workers repairing Yambol's City Centre Paving, they misses a bit shown in this picture taken this week. Their job was to paint over the rust with more white based cement to hid the stains. I'm sure they will return to cover the bits they missed soon

Yambol's Women in 1931

Dated back to 1931, this group of female statues stand proud in the centre of Yambol's City Park. There is no information why it is there from people  here I have asked and no inscriptions on the statues. Guess it doesn't need explaining as the image speaks volumes.

Abstract Sculpture in Yambol City Park

Yambol City Park has many interesting thing to see, this abstract sculpture is one of them. You may think by looking at the picture that it is made of wood. It isn't but a strong plastic resin so there will be no decay over the years.

A Yambol Currency Exchange Bureau

One of Yambol's tucked away currency exchange bureaus sits in the semi basement just short walk from the City centre. I used to use this regularly on trip to Bulgaria, but no need now I'm living here again. As you can see the pound is at a very low rate again the leva. they say this is normal int he summer and turns around when the winter arrives.

The picture shows a very relaxed area with countless benches with people resting and taking in the views and sounds. This is a daily process during the dry summer. Watering Yambol's Tennis Courts with sprinklers, however I do on occasion see a man with a hose doing the same thing.  Guess he's sipping a beer  out of the sun today.

Deserted House in Yambol? - No

This unique house looks deserted, even close up, but there are residents inside, you can just see their washing hanging out on the first floor on the right of the building. It is just begging to be modernised, but how without funds?

A Yambol Gymnastic Apparatus

I see many of these metal constructions outside apartment blocks in Yambol. At first I though they were for hanging out washing, but never say any clothing hanging there. It wasn't until I saw Yambol folk, (predominantly young and middle-aged men) doing pull ups as part of a morning or evening exercise work out.
