Draped in the morning sunlight is the Turkish Mosque in Yambol looking towards the East. People parking their cars here always get to see this sight.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

Eski Cami (Ebu Bekir) Sign Finally Found in Yambol
After 14 years after first coming to Yambol I finally found the sign for the Turkish Mosque in Yambol. It is placed quite high up on one of the walls and certainly well above eye level which is why many people miss it. Commonly known as Eski Cami (Ebu Bekir) it is always a reminder of the Ottoman Rule and therefore not looked upon fondly here.

A View from the West Side of the Turkish Mosque in Yambol
The Turkish Mosque in Yambol is around 500 years old and is one of the oldest on the Balkan Peninsula although the exterior may not give this away having been renovated. This is the view from the West side.

A Rock in Yambol's Turkish Mosque Wall
We often see the Turkish Mosque in the Centre of Yambol as a whole but never notice the intricate architecture of the walls. This is one rock of hunders that has been cemented in creating the unique Turkish style used during the Ottoman rule.
