I was quite taken back to see a grapevine on the 4th floor of an apartment in Yambol on their balcony. If you look closely you might discoer that it is dead.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

Grapevine Jungle in Neglected Yambol Home
You just turn your back for a moment and nature overtake. It is often said that food grows faster than the pace of life in Yambol with a fine example here. A neglect home for a year is overtaken by a grapevine jungle.

Grapevines Grown Over Yambol Garages
It is nearly harvest time in the grape world and these two Yambol garages are no exception to the chores of harvesting. Not just from the point of wine and rakia but how much improved does the sight of the garages improve with the greenery surrounding them? Immense!

Grapevine Garden Fences in Yambol
As you walk the streets of Yambol it is not uncommon to see garden fences used as supports to grapevines. Everything is so open and trusting here as in the late summer, the grapes ripen to their sweetest tune and there is no thieving of the fruits by passers by or night walkers. This is one thing I just admire about Yambol, the trust they have to respect each other's garden produce. It maybe to do with most having their own grapevines and don't need to steal.
