Georgi Rakovski is remembered here in this image with some flowers in Yambol. He also has a street named after him. Just a little background. He was was a 19th-century Bulgarian revolutionary, freemason, writer and an important figure of the Bulgarian National Revival and resistance against Ottoman rule. He died in Bucharest after leaving his mark in Bulgaria's history. As always, Bulgarians have pride in their history and are reminded in pictures, statues and plaques, not just in Yambol but in most if not all Towns and Cities in Bulgaria of their influential forefathers.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

A Sheltered Walk in Yambol City Centre
In the blistering heat of the day with the sun blazing down it is a relief to get shelter from these uncomfortable elements in Yambol City Centre. The ideal solution is to line the street with trees, an idea as old as the trees themselves which have been established here many decades ago.

Massive Space for Pedestrians Only in Yambol City Centre
It is such a joy to walk in Yambol City Centre and be free from traffic and fumes. The massive space for pedestrians is one of the great assets Yambol has for the people there - Many towns ans cities just don't have this.
