No Fruit and Vegetables Today in Yambol's Bazaar

A strange sight today as I visited the local bazaar to stock up on some fruit and vegetables. There was only one stall working and that was scant with produce. not quite sure why no fruit and vegetables were being sold today. Maybe a New Year hangover?

Saint Jordan's Day brings out the locals ready to dive in the icy waters of River Tundzha to retrieve a cross thrown in by the local Priest. Big crowds gather to watch each year for an event unique to Bulgaria.

Saint Jordan Day (6th January) Service in Yambol

6th January is Sait Jordan Day in Bulgaria and a service is given each year in the town Church. After the service the priests march down to the River Tundzha, throw a cross in and it is retrieved by local in the icy waters.

A beautiful warm sunny Sunday morning in Yambol bound to bring out the anglers onto the Tundzha River. On this occasion I joined them albeit didn't catch any fish today but other you see here did!.

Yambol's City Museum Air Conditioning System

Having walked past this hundreds of times it was a mystery until recently. It is the air conditioning system for Yambol's City Museum which is located about 40 metres away. It is a bit of an eyesore, concealing it with a few more bushes might be better.
