This grand pillared building is actually the entrance to a restuarant called 'Nostos' that is reknown for its pizza dishes. We went there for a birthday party once a couple of years ago and sat in the a spacious garden area at the back for warmer days and evenings. This used to get very busy in the summer, it remains whether it will be as busy this summer with the recession now hitting Bulgaria and Yambol.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

Fascinating building. It looks more like a small hotel than a restaurant. Hopefully, business will be sufficient in spite of the economic turmoil that abounds.
ReplyDeleteMartin a lot of the building seem to have a 1930's flavour. However I guess maybe this is more 1950's?
ReplyDeleteSimilar worries all over the place. What will happen to shops and restaurants. I'm afraid a lot of restaurants will have to close. But hopefully this pizza place will be alright. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe name of this building is "Karagiozovata Kushta" (the House of Karagiozov)its benn pizzria Nostos' new premises for the last few years :):)
ReplyDeleteThose chefs do the best pizzas and the best salads I have ever tasted and I am half Italian and have been brought up on the most elaborate pizzas and pastas and salads. They really are delicious. Just thinking about them makes me hungry.
ReplyDeleteIhave to agree the pizza are great there and the salads are fanstastic throughout Bulgaria.
ReplyDeleteWhere in Yambol was this cosy retro house? I am sure that it is built in the first half of the XX century.
