There are thousands of old cars tucked away in garages in Yambol, most out of sight from public view, but one I saw today was abandoned on a bit of wasteland. It looks like it had been there for quite a few years. I’m not sure of the make or how old it is, but and sure it will remain there for a few years to come.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

This is an old East German Trabant 601, it has a 2-stroke 600ccm 2cylyinder engine, which is air-cooled. it was pretty common car in all over Eastern Europe, it was a "people's car" like VW bug or Citroen 2CV or Renault 4 or Fiat 500, but of course it is a socialist for of people's car...
ReplyDeleteAnd it's roof was shortened, so it's a home-made pickup, normally Trabant had 3 chassis types: 2-door sedan named Limuzin, 3-door estate wagon named Kombi, and a Jeep-like softtop without doors, named the Tramp, but the Tramp is very uncommon, as it was used by armed forces of East Germany and maybe other places and maybe even hunters or such people
This is the kind of photo that completely depicts Bulgaria
