Another Paid Car Park In Yambol

Another Paid Car Park In YambolA new trend in Yambol is t he introduction of paid car parks. The first was introduced about three years ago and now they are growing all over town. Inevitable from two points. Firstly easy money from land owners and secondly the gross rise in cars owned and driven in Yambol. this one has been around but as you can see, Bulgarians don't like being charged for parking so they park 100 metres away on the public roads. The car you can see there is the car park attendants!

A Simple Metal Post - Cars Are In Fear Ot It

It is just a simple metal post I come across quite often in Yambol, but it does a superb job! This simple post stops cars using this little track as a short cut to the main road. Such an easy solution to stop cars in their tracks in a place where they are not wanted. Imagine what damage this could do to a car it it decided to take this road. The little alley is totally dark without any street lights, but drivers know it is there so no impaled engines to date.

A Filled Hole In The Road In Yambol

A Filled Hole In The Road In Yambol
When Yambol’s roads need repairing and they often do, there is no provision for traffic to be diverted or warned of the work going on. This is a classic example right in the middle of the road. No problem though car that approach just drive on the pedestrian walkway. It works here in Yambol and other town and cities because the cars travel at a snails pace on the side roads die to the condition of the roads and there very little danger of hitting pedestrians, there is enough time to just walk out of their way.

A Broken Down Lada In Yambol

A Broken Down Lada In Yambol
The Ladas of Yambol are a dying breed. Every ten cars you saw in Yambol a few years ago eight might well have been Ladas and it would take you quite a while to find ten cars! Now the volume of traffic and the amount of modern western European cars imported it quite a turn around. So when I see a broken down Lada I feel quite sorry for it. This particular Lada will be fixed very cheaply and last longer than many other makes of cars that increasing continue to pollute Yambol.

A Classic Moskovitch - With Racing Stripes?

A Classic Moskovitch - With Racing Stripes?
I generally don't like cars, but they are a fact of life in this modern world. What I do find interesting are the old Ladas and Moskovitch cars imported from Russia. Many of these cars are 20, 30 or even 40 years or older and still running, just. they are the workhorses on Bulgarian roads and outclass all other modern vehicles in personality. This classic Moskovitch has racing stripes or is the tape there to hold the bonnet together? Whatever the reason, this car is still working and runs although there is a brick behind th back wheel so the handbrake doesn't work. The number plate is brand new so it got through the 'tough' ministry of transport test somehow.
