Old Cartoon Characters never die what with the trend of retro phases, especially at supermarkets. Mickey Mouse and Minne are probably the oldest cartoon characters and now feature as part of Yambol's Billa Supermarket promotion gimmick. Of course, most people fall for it and buy more.

Distinctive Billa Shopping Bag Dangling in Yambol

There is no doubt that anyone would not know where the Austria Billa Supermarket is with its distinctive dangling shopping bag in Yambol. This is used in all their stores in Bulgaria. I often wonder how it would fare in very strong winds.

Caught sight of a delivery van at on of Yambol's Vilton Stores in the Diana area stocking up supplies which are regularly shopped for by locals, myself included. The Vilton shops are Bulgarian owned and run which is quite refreshing in view of German Supermarket dominance from Lidl, Kaufland and Billa in Yambol,

Billa and Technomarket Stores

Completed last year, the supermarket Billa and the white goods store Technomarket based on the first floor are now trading. This is situated 1 kilometre down the Sliven road on the bank of the beautiful Tundzha river. The ever increasing blots on the Yambol landscape. This complex incidently is where the first ever public escalator was installed.
