 There are many locations in Yambol on public streets where you can have free picking of fruit. In this instance, yellow plums are ripe and ready for free picking.

Free Rasberries, A First in Yambol


 In all the years I have wandered around Yambol, this is the first time I have seen raspberries grown in a public area, essentially free to passers-by. A little bit early, but I will return in a few weeks to see whether they remain unpicked.

 Another day and another public place found where I can gather free mulberries. Incidentally the wood from the mulberry tree is added to rakia to darken the colour.

A common sight in Yambol is bathroom furniture being dumped in public places. This is unusual as this bathroom sink is in good condition and can be reused by anyone passing by that wants it.

It is quite a mystery as to why people buy apples from grocers at this time of year. There are ripe apples for picking in the streets of Yambol right now that are by far tastier than the shelved varieties in supermarkets. I know having picked and eaten the apples you see here.

A typical sight this time of year where free picking of ripe plums can be found in the streets fo Yambol. Quite often Gypsies will raid the trees and sell them to Bulgarian to make the rakia, (fruit brandy).

A Wall of Many Pastel Shades in Yambol


Simple to the extreme, unique one might say, but certainly different considering all the other wall that are mainly whitewashed in Yambol. Why this design is the question that begs to be answered. I can only surmise that some form of practicality prevails. Namely that the owner didn't have enough paint in one colour to complete, so used what was in stock in this case various pastel shades. Could well be a number of tester paints for free and decided not to follow up with a purchase - yes that might be it.

Community Hay Being Made In Yambol

Common land is in abundance in Yambol and this is put into production with the cutting of grass for hay. There are of course many livestock here in Yambol, even in the city centre. Hay is the mainstay of food for livestock and comes free with a little elbow grease.
