Yambol's Linden Trees

Scattered throughout Yambol are the Linden trees. During mid June the wonderful scent of the blossoms send you dizzy. And of course the bonus if picking some of the blossom and drying them out gives you healthy Linden Tea! 

A Yambol Rose - One Of Millions In Bulgaria

Bulgarian is famed for its roses and perfume made from them. In fact over half thew world's supply of distilled rose comes from Bulgaria to be made into perfume and other cosmetic products. Yambol therefore is no stranger to roses and as a visitor you can't fail to be inpressed with them. There are millions of roses blooming right now in Yambol and the whole city is alight with colour and scent. I have just taken a picture of one that is on a municiple space set aside solely for roses.

Buried Bulgarian Roses

In the centre of Yambol City you can't see Bulgarian roses as they have been prepared for the winter. They have been had the soil mounded up against them, effectively burying them, to protect them form the severe freezing Bulgarian winter temperatures. Wherever you see roses in Bulgarian they are all pruned and covered over like this. They won't be uncovered intil April when all the nature wakes up and springs to life. The roses are soon to come out of hiding and treat Yambol to a feast of colour and scent.
