A memory of the dead is always present in Yambol. Many doors are a memorial to those who have past away. At 40 days after death and every anniversary thereon - These memorials are refreshed and sometimes decorated with flowers on such occasions. A reminder in December that most old people in Bulgaria pass away in the cold winter months.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

A memory of the dead is always present in Yambol that is quite interesting and touching.....A brilliant capture indeed.....
ReplyDeleteI am never quite sure about similar "mementos" of the dead.
ReplyDeleteWith a constant reminder of these poor souls it must make it difficult for the bereaved to move on.
I still remember dead family members and friends and of course in the UK I can visit a grave.
However as always I respect of peoples cultures and religions. A case of what works for you I guess.
