Helicopter Rides Now in Yambol via UK

Ho do I know this helicopter originated from the UK? Well, look at the price for the ride at the base. It says 20p which is in UK sterling. It now costs 1 lev in Bulgaria more than double, but probably the initial price was from a couple of decades ago.

UK Fashion Dominates Yambol Shops

It hasn't gone unnoticed, but in Yambol if you look at the fashion shops you will see that UK stated designs and the Great Britain flag dominates. This of course is reflected on the clothes Yambol people wear who of course buy them. Not sure what I think about that seeing as I wanted to get away from the UK so badly and am reminded frequently of it here. Unfortunately most people here just see the UK through media eyes and not from first hand experience hence the rose tinted glass view.

Basil Brush in Yambol

It was quite a shock to turn up at the Yambol Mall and find that Basil Brush had arrived. His very patriotic sports car made no doubt that he was from the UK. On asking some shoppers whether they knew what this fox's name was, they drew a blank. Pretty sure that hardly any Bulgarian here would know his name as Basil Brush, not surprisingly.

A New Gas Metering System In Yambol City Centre

A New Gas Metering System In Yambol City Centre
I caught sight of this network of gas piping on a newly built shop front on a sidewalk just south of Yambol city centre. It does have the warning signs on, but I did reflect on whether this type of design would be used in the UK, especially the use of glass, which could be broken quite easily. Bad thoughts Martin forget the past and live the future!

Old Onions Growing On A Yambol Window Sill

Old Onions Growing On A Yambol Window Sill
As you walk the streets of Yambol and look to your side at the homes of Bulgarians, you will see a fantastic amount of food growing on a DIY basis. One conservatory I saw today had last year's onions set up in jam jars. It is common for these onions to grow and the green shoots are then used for salads. Nothing is wasted in Bulgaria. I the UK the old onions would have been thrown away.
