Brand New Yambol Pavement Barriers

The habit for Bulgarian driver to park on the pavement is always going to happen. There is however a trend for new businesses to put up pavement barriers to stop this happening. I think the paint is still wet on these ones, which you can't fail to miss with the colour choice. It will be interesting to see whether they are still in one piece after a few weeks. The snow still isn't quite thawed yet either.

Puddles Galore in Yambol

It only takes a light shower to create big puddles in Yambol where the streets drainage system just doesn't exist. It is a good thing however that Bulgarian drivers do have consideration when driving past . They almost always slow down on the approach to a puddle that could potentially soak pedestrians to the skin when passing by. Luckily there isn't too much rain here and when there is it dries up really quickly in the heat of the spring, summer and autumn.

Ready, Steady Go!

Ready, Steady Go!
In the boulevard area of Yambol City centre it is a sure sign of warmer weather when you see the battery powered kids cars ready for action. Loads of children, many toddlers train on these and have lots of practice to potentially becoming crazy Bulgarian drivers. If you are a pedestrian, you have to be on the lookout otherwise you'll be knocked over. Luckily though, these vehicles make quite a lot of noise with their whining and hard plastic wheels so you can hear them coming

Kids Running Across the Road

Kids Running Across the Road
I just love this road sign, not just because it is hand painted but for it's raw advice. It is telling you that there is a school ahead and that children are running across the road. Oh so true and good advice to kids with Bulgarian drivers on the road. To be far the state of the roads lend themselves to be driven over slowly anyway so no real need for the speed limit sign.
