 It is good to see that this old school that was in disrepair for many years has been refurbished and should be ready for educating children in due course.

 Locally produced honey in Yambol is wonderful and this might be the reason we see Winnie the Poo here with us. Found on a school wall Winnie is seemingly enjoying a pot of honey although it might be tea with the teapot by the side.

Yambol has many Education facilities and schools, this is one of them, their own Business College just off Dimitar Blagoev Street. A nice, new, bright sign for all to see.

Yambol School Named after Hristo Smirnenski With Statue

Hristo Smirnenski has a school named after him in Yambol. this is the statue that stands in the school grounds. He a Bulgarian poet and prose writer who wrote thousands of pieces of poetry and prose in various genres using more than 70 pseudonyms. An interesting trivia is Smirnenski Point on Robert Island, South Shetland Islands is also named after him. He died young at only 25 years old form tuberculosis. Why do all great artists die young?

Yambol's Sveti Kliment Ohridski School

A popular school in Yambol is the Sveti Kliment Ohridski School across the road is the main Yambol hospital. The school is of course a place for learning but also a place where socialising goes on out of school hours. You will see many children returning to school in the evening using the sporting facilities that remain open 24/7. Good to see the Bulgarian flag proudly fluttering in between the two big trees with the whitewashed trunks.

A Yambol School - Now Closed

A school in Yambol that is no longer used is now the subject of English lessons al fresco with the graffiti that has appeared. Probably from ex students of the school no doubt. I find it quite disturbing that schools close down and this is quite common in Yambol

Rounded Pink Yambol School Building

A school opposite the main Yambol hospital has some interesting architecture with the building with a rounded wall. It certainly creates a warm atmosphere as opposed to the straight sharp edged building you normally associate with a former communist country. Add the pink colour and this enhances the warmth even further.

Brand New Road Signs In Yambol

Recently I have seen many new road sign around Yambol. This one stands out, and it should, as a very bright warning to motorists that there are children ahead, usually just before a school, you can see the old fashion type further along the road in the distance. These really do stand out here in winter, but once the spring comes the bright vegetation around will give it some camouflage.

A Yambol 'Nursery' School Playground?

Passing a local school in Yambol I noticed that in the playground they have growing areas. This is a brilliant facility for the kids to learn and take on board the growing of flowers and vegetables. Something in the school curriculum that will be invaluable for many children when they grow up and have a horticultural education build in from an early age. The playground and nursery is in immaculate condition by the way.

Kids Running Across the Road

I just love this road sign, not just because it is hand painted but for it's raw advice. It is telling you that there is a school ahead and that children are running across the road. Oh so true and good advice to kids with Bulgarian drivers on the road. To be far the state of the roads lend themselves to be driven over slowly anyway so no real need for the speed limit sign.

Yambol Kids

It is the school holidays and the kids of Yambol are out to play. Here are a few of them, they are no trouble although the graffiti the they play around is on the increase in Yambol.
