The WW2 Memorial Statue in Yambol

WW2, Memorial, Statue, Yambol,

Most people don't notice this memorial that stands just south of the River Tundzha in Yambol. It is a grim reminder of the sacrifices of war which we should learn from.

Another Statue Stand Without Statue in Yambol City Park

Statue Stand, Statue, Yambol City Park, Yambol,

Yet another statue that has been removed from its stand in Yambol City Park. This etching on the stand have also been erased leaving no clue as to who this related to. Would be a good idea to put another statue in its place, but maybe the authorities want this as a reminder of bygone times.

Headless Statue Due to Vandals in Yambol City Park

Headless, Statue, Vandals, Yambol City Park, Yambol,

This piece of vandalism was made only recently and sets a degree of despair when seen. Unfortunately, this is what we are having to put up with now in this modern day and age of disrespect for the environment. I can't see how this statue can be repaired and whoever did it will have to live with the guilt if they have any.

Statue of a Pregnant Woman Outside Yambol's Maternity Hospital

Statue, Pregnant Woman, Yambol, Maternity Hospital,

I guess if there is a place in Yambol for a statue of a pregnant woman it would have to be outside the Maternity Hospital. Well as a matter of fact that's where I found it.

Just A Statue Platform Now In Yambol

This now is just a platform for a statue now. The reasons for the removal of the statue I imagine would be for political reasons. It could however have just been a platform for a statue and the statue just didn't get placed there of course.

Yambol School Named after Hristo Smirnenski With Statue

Hristo Smirnenski has a school named after him in Yambol. this is the statue that stands in the school grounds. He a Bulgarian poet and prose writer who wrote thousands of pieces of poetry and prose in various genres using more than 70 pseudonyms. An interesting trivia is Smirnenski Point on Robert Island, South Shetland Islands is also named after him. He died young at only 25 years old form tuberculosis. Why do all great artists die young?

Yambol's Town Park - Gymnast Figure Statue

Yambol's Diana Park - Gymnast Figure Statue
Yambol's Town Park holds many surprises and I had missed this figured statue of a gymnast until now. It is placed outside the municipal building in the centre of the park not easily seen unless you are on the path to the building. The ring she is holding is not complete, I'm sure this is due to weather elements rather than vandalisation elements. A fine figure it is like most Bulgarian women I see here.

Yambol's Museum Statue - Mother and Baby

Yambol's Museum Statue - Mother and Baby
This is the final statue in the series out side Yambol's Regional Historic Museum and one of the most interesting. the sculpture portrays a mother and baby, yet it is done in a abstract way. There is no character base here just some shapes and posture to give the feeling of love that can only come from a mother and baby. I find this quite a powerful work of Bulgarian art that would say the same thing thing internationally.
