The WW2 Memorial Statue in Yambol

WW2, Memorial, Statue, Yambol,

Most people don't notice this memorial that stands just south of the River Tundzha in Yambol. It is a grim reminder of the sacrifices of war which we should learn from.

A Memorial in Front of Yambol's Ottoman Mosque (Ebu Bekir)

Memorial, Yambol, Ottoman Mosque, Ebu Bekir,
You will find a memorial with a little seating area and garden in front of the Turkish Mosque that sits in the centre of Yambol. Not often used by locals, maybe because of the other numerous seating areas in the city and away from reminders of Ottoman Rule.

A Small Memorial Facade in Yambol City Park

Memorial, Facade, Yambol City Park, Yambol,

There is usually a pot of flowers in the centre of the circle often seen being laid  and watered by pensioners who tend to the area from goodwill. It is a small memorial and quite refreshing to see it being respected by the thousands of visitors who walk past it in Yambol City Park.

The Memorial by Yambol City Park

Memorial, Yambol City Park, Yambol,

Situated just outside the South entrance of Yambol City Park stands this memorial that is well tended and use in ceremonies throughout the year. Nice to see respect for a history that should not be repeated. No graffiti either!

A Rough But Ready Yambol Shop

A Rough But Ready Yambol Shop
this Yambol shop may look rough, but is is open and ready for business everyday to local residents. The roof still keeps the water out so why bother repairing it? - A waste of money! The wall is littered with traditional memorial poster of dead relatives of local people. Well walls are there to be used so why not? At least everyone can see and be reminded of previous residents and customers that shopped there.

Every year on the 3rd March Bulgarians celebrates their independence and liberation from the Ottoman Rule. Last Tuesday was that day and 130 years years free of the yoke. The memorial picture here was centre stage when the formal celebrations took place in Yambol's Town Park. It was of course another public holiday and reason to celebrate and party on - And we all did.
