When there is no rain for a while the River Tundzha in Yambol turnes green from still or slow-moving waters. Just as seen here.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

A Green Bin in Yambol
To match the green environment of Yambol, they now have green bins in Yambol centre. I personally prefer the original yellow that stand out from the crowd of leaves. this I feel makes one more prone to notice it and use it!

An Official Bulgarian Road Sign

This is seen regularly on Bulgarian roads. It mean beware a hazard is here and in place where there are major pot holes, wet cement around drains that have just been repaired, or in place of a missing drain. In fact these green painted tyres are used on a regular basis. Why pay good money on cones when a couple of painted recycled car tyres will do? In some cases the wheel trim is placed in the tyre, perhaps a VIP in the City on these ocassions. By the way, the unofficial road signs for beware of hazard in the road are twigs and branches.

Yambol's Gypsy Street Cleaners
We see these every day in Yambol, the Gypsy Street Cleaners, they work all day keeping the pathways and roadways clear of rubbish and grit. Without them many of the drains would become blocked up with mud and grim that builds up on a daily basis, especially during winter. They use to wear orange outfits but now don new green with yellow trimming sand look the part. You can see each woman has a different tool. Going from left to right one has a scrapper and a cone, the next just a scrapper, then a rubbish box collector and finally a twig sweeper, every household has one of these. These are best for sweeping leaves up.

Yambol Solar Showers

No need for electric or gas driven showers in Yambol homes. This big oil can painted black acts as a gravity powered solar water heating system. Even in the winter there is still plenty of warm sun to heat up some water. These are some of the devices I absolutely love in Bulgaria, so green so environmentally friendly and feels so good. By the way, they work very well, I've tried it.

Yambol Green Road Signs
Typical way of telling driver to avoid a manhole that has just been repaired, just stick a branch of a tree there. It is kind of pretty, environmentally friendly and definitely Bulgarian.365bulgarianadventures" src="http://bannerbreak.com/banners/2/444/121430062633867955.gif">

Fine Yambolian Garden Gates
These fine Yambolian Garden gates are seen daily. They are painted in the Bulgarian colours of red, green and white to give that distinctive blend of Bulgarian pride. Of course what is beyond those gates is a garden of produce you could die for.http://bulgarianslivatree.com
