Skalitsa Banitsa - In Yambol

The recipe has been around for a while and it tastes as good as it always did, even though made in Yambol not the village of Skalitsa. Each week they are made without fail as too much of a good thing is bad for you. If you want the recipe you will have to Google 'Skalitsa Banitsa', you don't have to buy the published recipe book '100 Simple Recipes From Bulgaria' or my previous publication 'Simple Treasures in Bulgaria' which also contain it. Load of other food sites have copied it by the way!!! Al this aside, yum! yum!

A Well Used Bus Station Bench in Yambol

You only get to see this bench without Yambol folk not sitting on it and that's quite rare with the buses being a very popular and affordable way to travel for many. The bench of course is situated in Yambol's Bus Station where I often catch a bus to Skalitsa myself. It needs a little painting but no one complains as it is completely functional and has rested many weary legs.

Yambol City From A Distance

Yambol City From A DistanceThis is Yambol seen from a couple of kilometres out on the road to the big village of Roza some 10 kilometres firthe up the road. You can sse the hill where the TV mast is situated at the top and the Borovets Hotel half way up the hill. This is the road I take to Skalitsa (37 kilomtres away) each weekend.
(Sorry about the marks on the picture)

View of Yambol

View of Yambol
This walk took me to the top of Borovets hill going past the locally well known Borovets Hotel. At the top of the hill is Radio Station mast that can be seen for miles around. The views are stunning of the surrounding Bulgarian countryside. This picture was take a SW direction, 35 kilmetres ahead just before the humped hills is the village Skalitsa where my farmhouse is. In winter you can see the whole of Yambol town lying beneath you.
