A Closer Look At A New Tree Planted In Yambol

Just bear in mind that this newly planted tree is on a public street and no permission granted. It is with such care and attnetion that the circular cemetented base was formed and painted. There is no fear of vandalism to the structure or the tree although there might be a knock from cars parked on pavements occassionally.

A Great Corner House Building Project Potentially In Yambol

Based only 400 metres form the main Yambol hospital in a sidestreet lies this house that needs renovation. It woudl be a great building project and eventual home for an invester, but due to complex current owners it is near on impossible on paper to sell. Such a pity, I wouldn't mind buying the project myself.

An New Business - Now A Closed Business In Yambol

This new modern shop business opened at the end of last year and now is closed down less than one year later. I pass it everyday and have never seen any customers in there. It is not the only failure for shops in Yambol but unfortunate during these hard times.

New Water Works In A Yambol Home

This was a big job and took quitre a few weeks of work I imagine, but this winter shoudl see no burst water pipes in this Yambol home. Why? Because new plastic plumbing was laid with foam insulation replacing the bare metal pipes before. Can this beat the freeze of Bulgarian winters exceeding -24 C at times?

Pretty Paving Stones On Yambol Streets

I supposed I must be quite a depressed person to have noticed these particualr paving stones on the streets of Yambol. On the other hand, you have to watch where you are walkiing with the state of the walkways and uneven surfaces that prevail. Needless to say these pretty paving stones are well worth a second look.

Yambol's Cutest Letterbox - Probably!

This letterbox found today has to be one of the cutest in Yambol. Mind you, not much more than a thin letter could find its way into the box on the other side. I for one would love posting letters in this particular letterbox without the fear of Yambol guard dogs of course this time round.

A Sea-Themed Garden Gate In Yambol

There are many seagulls in Yambol that fly overhead, they are of course scroungers and live of the rubbish tips that surround Yambol. It is no surprise then that I found a garden gate with a seagull as a model on a garden gate. A very sea themed gate you may think for those who don't know about the seagulls here.

Yambol Basement Jungles

Usually you will find rubbish that has found its way through the grates into the basement. This of course turns into compost eventually so jungles are formed as no weeding takes place. I'm suprised that there are not tomatoes growing out of their knowing Bulgarians and their ideas for growing food.

The Arfa Hotel Just Off The City Centre Limits

This is the Arfa Hotel situated in the backstreets of Yambol just a couple of stone throws form the main city centre. We had the New Year Eve party there so I can't remember that much about it I'm afraid - but it is cheap and friendly.

Yambol Shop Advert Partly Whitewahed Out

This Yambol shop has a massive advert on the side of the building. It seems that the residents at the back didn't care too much about defacing it when they white-washed their own segment of the wall. Everyone of course still understands that the shop sells filters and anti-freeze at factory prices. I like the painted arrows!

Place To Go For Cheap Motor Oil In Yambol

Not too sure where this owner gets his motor oil from but he is one of the cheapest in Yambol. Maybe because his advertising is on such a tight budget as you can see. This is another business conducted from the owner's home, another cost cutting method of business.

Yambol Ladies Attending Flowers

It is common to see flowers grown by residents living by public areas of open space. These ladies were an example so typical of Yambol where flowers are cared and looked after on a daily basis - and respected by passers by.

Vacant Yambol Market Stalls

These vacant market stalls are usually filled by local growers selling their fruit and vegetable produce and good it is too. They are vacant because I was up early this morning before they got a chance to set up. It is a good place to buy form knowing that is is local produce.

A Yambol Garden Wall Made Out Of Rubbish

A small garden wall has been built from rubbish here in Yambol. Normally walls are made out of recycled materials but this take the biscuit in recycling. I don't think it would last long with the biodegradable cardboard that has also been used. Mind you it cost nothing to build.

A Local Yambol Grocer Store - Nestle Ridden

Tis local Yambol gorcer store is somewhere I avoid. Why I hear you ask? Well I cant' stand Nestle and all the prodcut they produce and this store has fallen into the trap of massive advertising on the store front. I real turn off for me and a turn on for the mass who don't know about the evil Nestle company.

Another Beautiful Yambol Cobblestoned Street

It is a common sight in Yamboll where the streets are patterened by cobblestones and the sight never fails to inmpress. Far better than boring black tarmac that just can't live with the extremes of weather we have here. Cobblestones also slow cars down which is a good thing!

Where Has The Yambol Sign Gone?

When I saw this road sign frame without the sign I immediately thought of the metal sign being taken for scrap by gypsies whose big community is nearby. Who knows where it went, or was it the victim of wild winds in the recent storms we have had recently?

Yambol Street Grapes Looking Good

It is rare to see any garden in Yambol without theri own vineyard. Many use the street as an extentiohn of their growth and why not. These partucular grapes are doing very well and should keep the owner happy for another year after processing for wine and rakia.

The Local Yambol Hairdresser

This particular hairdresser is based in a private home and is advertised on many trees that grow in the streets here. They cater for men, women and children. Another interesting garden gate to add to the list on this blog.

Yambol Metalwork Maestro

Doctor Who Tree Monster In Yambol

I couldn't help being reminded of a Dr Who monster when looking at this tree in Yambol today. It looks like it is able to walk and sent a little shiver down my spine as I used to be quite afraid of the early Dr Who series monsters when I was a kid.

A View Of The Balkan Mountains from Yambol

Yambol is situated on the Thracian Plain therefore is relatively flat although there are some big hillls scattered in and around the City. Looking to the north from one of these hills you can clearly see the Balkan mountains in the distance just beyond the town of Sliven. These are snowcapped in the winter and also have ski resorts there.

Burning Bins In Yambol

On ocassions some of the rubbish is set alight in the bins that frequent Yambol streets now. Shame as the gypsy community can't scavage for material that will be recycled. A good street warmer in the winter though.

A Yambol Cat Fast Asleep

This Yambol cat was seen on the street fast asleep on a hot balmy day. With the dogs that roam around I dnt' think it will be asleep for too long, more like a catnap really. Dogs, love cats here on the Yambol street, especially for dinner.

A Yambol Guard Dog

If I had a criminal tendancy I certainly would thnk again before breaking into this particular Yambol house with this guard dog at bay. Every person that passes the gate it barks at, normal reactions from most Yambol guard dogs which act as a doorbell as well of course.
