I thought that this new development of apartments in Yambol had an interesting contrast in mood and colour. The bright pastel finished apartments compared to the dark bleak image of the unfinished apartments are opposites to the eye.
Yambol is not the prettiest City in Bulgaria, but it does have a unique character which is now in the process of being captured by camera. What you see now in Yambol will be short lived in a world of change, especially with the EU strangling the heart and soul of Bulgaria's culture with directives and uniform regulations.

Two Year Old Yambol Apartments Still In Fine Condition
These new apartments were built some two years ago and still look brand new after two years fo weathering. They look very grand indeed with the bright coloured baconies. Far too expesive for many who live here though.

Yambol Homes Cleared For More Development

Yet another area in Yambol city centre sees Old Bulgarian houses being demolished to make way for new developments for profit. I do not know what is planned here but is certainly won’t be a Bulgarian house but more than likely to be expensive apartments geared to wards foreign buyers. There are so many of these instances and many that have got half way through the development and then being abandoned due to lack of funds or buyers.

House For Renovation Or New Apartments?

Just off the centre of Yambol is a house that once used to be the home of a Yambol family. It is ripe for renovation being in a good convenient location. Why this hasn’t been done up until now is a mystery. Perhaps a block of apartments will replace it soon is the more likely.

Unique New Apartment Block in Yambol
Tucked away and slightly out of sight is a recently built set Yambol apartments that are very different in style to most that are being built right now. I quite like the arched features on the entrances and windows with a sympathetic balcony wall design to complement it. Of course these apartments are far to expensive for the everyday Bulgarian living here and will mostly be sold to foreigners or Mafia representations.

Four Typical But Different Types of Yambol Homes
I chose to take this picture today because it has four distinctly typical, but very different types of Yambol homes, all within 50 metres of each other.- Tucked on the right, just visable with a roof in bad repair is a single floored gypsy house, the smoke from the woodburner was clearly visable at on this cold day.
- On the left is the pink three floored apartment block rather dated now.
- Next to this is a modern seven floored apartment block still being built - These types are so common now in Yambol, they are just cramming apartment block all the time now.
- Then there is the familiar sight of the tall grey apartment block, again, very common and very popular for being so economic on heating in the winter.

Lada Shop
I see this sight quite often as a Lada is the shop selling various fruit and vegetables including preserved gherkins and conserve on the bonnet a set of weighing scales to the left with rakia for sale just behind that. The owner wasn't trading for the last couple of weeks as it was too cold, but better weather over the last two days has brought him out again. This is set up in the middle of a set of apartment blocks. A free market is ever I saw one.

Car Art on Yambol Apartment Walls

This was noticed as I walked along the main road that leads to Elhovo from Yambol town. Two cars painted on a wall. It looks like they have collided. This of course would be a typical example of car driving habits in Bulgaria and hence reflected in Bulgarian art.

Another New Apartment Development

Developments like this are scattered around Yambol town. This is a common site wherever you go as the demand for apartments is was high. This demand in the main is not from Bulgarians but from foreigners who are the only ones who can afford them . With the wordwide credit crunch I wonder whether all these new apartment developments will all sell or flood the market ending up unsold.

More New Apartments in Yambol
This was started about a year ago and is in the same street as out house in Yambol, about 1 kilometre from the town centre. It has been a major problem with the car turning into this road with all the building that was going on but now it is almost complete. You can see the project picture by the tree which isn't too far removed from the finished product.365bulgarianadventures

Yambol Back Street
Just out of the main centre of Yambol are many back street, residential areas that are cobbleslone roads. Many of the houses there that used to be single dwellings have been converted into apartments. Initially this was for their own families, but increasing to rent or sell.365bulgarianadventures

Big Ads In Yambol
Nothing held back here as the advertising is made on an enormous scale providing some insulation to the apartments at the same time. The residents get a small payment for agreeing to have this there and they are the only people in Yambol who don't have to see it!365bulgarianadventures

New (Expensive) Apartments in Yambol

Yambol is a town that is up and coming, the new developments of apartments, hotels and commercial offices is frightening. Here's another apartment complex just on the point of being finished just 100 metres from the town centre. The cost of an apartment there? Too much! Not doing the local Yambol people any favours but purely for profit. Shame!
