To me this is an eyesore, but gambling is an international virus which is part and parcel of human nature. Club 21 is the name of this particular gambling institution in the heart of Yambol City Centre, albeit you only have to be over 18 to enter. Funny you only hear about winners in gambling genres!

This man flame grilling locally grown peppers is a common sight this time of year in Yambol. A very simple and rewarding affair where the food is prepared for Winter feasts in the extreme cold weather experienced here. It goes without saying that we did the same thing this week.
Sunday, 17 September 2017
In Yambol, especially in the city Centre area you will often see three flags flying. On for Yambol, Bulgarian and the EU. There can be found just outside the Municipal Offices by the beautiful fountains.

Having seen workers repairing Yambol's City Centre Paving, they misses a bit shown in this picture taken this week. Their job was to paint over the rust with more white based cement to hid the stains. I'm sure they will return to cover the bits they missed soon

When ever we visit a Yambol Church we used to light up a handful of candles. But in recent time the price has doubled and we now buy a solitary candle. Many feel that the church is a business and the servants of the faith live a wealthy. I have to agree, This picture of the price of candles is displayed. Pretty expensive for a bit of wick and wax!

This Yambol photographic shops has been here for at least 12 years with the same AGFA FOTO sign up throughout. Most of the business is digital now, but the outside facade gives a step back in time to the days of having to wait days for the film to be processed. I do miss the excitement of waiting to fthe results.

This week Yambol saw workmen repairing Yambol's City Centre paving. There we multiple areas of the paving where rust had come through the white cement leaving an unsightly brown/orange markers in the white finish. this of course will re-appear next year and the work holding these stains will start again.

Found this site in Yambol centre which interested me. A couple of ventilations pipes diverted to avoid the view from a window being obstructed. How boring it would be if that window wasn't there!
Monday, 11 September 2017
Passing by Yambol's Municipal Offices I noticed that the Christmas decorations are still up. We all know they don't light up this time of the years, but all ready for the Christmas celebrations in three months time.
Sunday, 10 September 2017
Another picture of a tank in Yambol's Battle of Glory Museum. This is in the Stara Planina area of Yambol, well signposted throughout the town and has a steady flow of visitors Nice to see children being brought along with their parents.
Saturday, 9 September 2017
Dated back to 1931, this group of female statues stand proud in the centre of Yambol's City Park. There is no information why it is there from people here I have asked and no inscriptions on the statues. Guess it doesn't need explaining as the image speaks volumes.
Friday, 8 September 2017
A picture of the River Tundzha under a swamp of duckweed. this happens every year after warm weather. It puts people off from fishing albeit many fish under the greenery.
Thursday, 7 September 2017
The is no better setting to rest your weary legs on this romantic seating area in Yambol City Park. With roses surrounding you who can forgive the opportunity for romance?
Wednesday, 6 September 2017
Yambol City Park has many interesting thing to see, this abstract sculpture is one of them. You may think by looking at the picture that it is made of wood. It isn't but a strong plastic resin so there will be no decay over the years.
Tuesday, 5 September 2017
One of Yambol's tucked away currency exchange bureaus sits in the semi basement just short walk from the City centre. I used to use this regularly on trip to Bulgaria, but no need now I'm living here again. As you can see the pound is at a very low rate again the leva. they say this is normal int he summer and turns around when the winter arrives.
Monday, 4 September 2017
This picture was taken inside Yambol's Battle of Glory Museum where it give information and artifacts of Bulgaria's war torn history. If you ever get to visit this museum there is a very helpful woman manager who will take you around the whole site and explain everything you see in great detail.

Yambol's City Park Water Fountain, it the focal point on the path leading up to the Tennis Courts. The picture shows a very relaxed area with countless benches with people resting and taking in the views and sounds. The is an abundance of wildlife that use this area as well, most frequenting at night when the Yambolians are in bed.
Saturday, 2 September 2017
Used during the Second World War primarily to counter the Soviets between 1943-1945, this Panther Tank stands outside Yambol's War Museum (Museum of Battle Glory) complex. This is in very good condition unlike many other relics on the site.
Friday, 1 September 2017
This is a daily process during the dry summer. Watering Yambol's Tennis Courts with sprinklers, however I do on occasion see a man with a hose doing the same thing. Guess he's sipping a beer out of the sun today.
Thursday, 31 August 2017
Just before you enter Yambol's City Park on the south side over the bridge, there is an ice cream stall. What better way to enjoy a walk in the park on a hot summer day with an ice cream to hand.
Wednesday, 30 August 2017
Just alongside Yambol's Tundzha River rises up the towering Tundzha Hotel. This dominates the landscape but always give s a sense of where you are in Yambol using it as an obvious landmark. Never stayed at the place, but an ideal place for visiting guests being so central
Tuesday, 29 August 2017
Every day there are coach trips to Sofia from Yambol. I caught this one just about to leave on a sunny afternoon. Having taken a ride myself, it is a very comfortable journey, but I couldn't wait to get back from the hustle and bustle of Sofia.
Monday, 28 August 2017
On a visit to Yambol's War Museum, (Museum of Battle Glory) there were many vehicles on show, this one was the first in a line of and can tell a few stories of was tales I'm sure.
Sunday, 27 August 2017
It is nearly harvest time in the grape world and these two Yambol garages are no exception to the chores of harvesting. Not just from the point of wine and rakia but how much improved does the sight of the garages improve with the greenery surrounding them? Immense!
Saturday, 26 August 2017
This unique house looks deserted, even close up, but there are residents inside, you can just see their washing hanging out on the first floor on the right of the building. It is just begging to be modernised, but how without funds?
Friday, 25 August 2017
A little snack bar in the Stara Planina are of Yambol has recently closed down. What a shame as it served many apartment blocks in the area. Guess disposable income just isn't there when it is cheaper doing snack at home.
Thursday, 24 August 2017
Just on the outskirts of Yambol on the road to Veselinovo stands a grand statue. This is a fine example of the past communist days when people we more important than business.
Wednesday, 23 August 2017
At first sight you wouldn't know what this corrugated box was sitting in the suburbs of Yambol. Inside are 12 big 100 litre barrels of fermenting wine ready for making the traditional spirit Rakia. If you don't know what Rakia is then check out this sight which will inform you The Rakia Site
Tuesday, 22 August 2017
Wherever you go in Yambol, every hundred metre or so you will see these black plastic wheelie bins on public roads. They are ransacked by the Roma folk for plastic, metal and other reusable items before the truck come along and empty them regularly. Of course fly tipping goes on with the broken toilet dumped alongside - no claims on this item though.
Monday, 21 August 2017
I see many of these metal constructions outside apartment blocks in Yambol. At first I though they were for hanging out washing, but never say any clothing hanging there. It wasn't until I saw Yambol folk, (predominantly young and middle-aged men) doing pull ups as part of a morning or evening exercise work out.
Sunday, 20 August 2017
I just can't get away from the advertising for credit in Yambol. you are never further than a stone's throw from an ad hoc ad stuck on a windows, lamp posts and even private cars whose owners no doubt are credit agents. The image of these ads somewhat taints the environment, but that's supply and demand for you.
Saturday, 19 August 2017
Most views, pictures and images of Yambol are looking ahead. this one is looking up for a change. The mature trees shading the sun is a common sight in Yambol if of course you take time to glance up on occasion.
Friday, 18 August 2017
Thursday, 17 August 2017
You can't fail to notice the lock up garages with their multi-coloured facades. There are no numbers must colours and rust patterns which add to the rustic image.
Wednesday, 16 August 2017
Georgi Rakovski is remembered here in this image with some flowers in Yambol. He also has a street named after him. Just a little background. He was was a 19th-century Bulgarian revolutionary, freemason, writer and an important figure of the Bulgarian National Revival and resistance against Ottoman rule. He died in Bucharest after leaving his mark in Bulgaria's history. As always, Bulgarians have pride in their history and are reminded in pictures, statues and plaques, not just in Yambol but in most if not all Towns and Cities in Bulgaria of their influential forefathers.
Tuesday, 15 August 2017
Although the picture image is not too good, in reality this pedestrian walkway just invites you to walk it in Yambol at night. The ground level water fountains' light changes every few seconds giving an added element of change to the romantic walk.
Monday, 14 August 2017
It may have a Christmas feel but no such thoughts on this picture of a Yambol Restaurant that attracts customers with its welcoming ambience. The tepid temperature walking thought Yambol City Centre is a relief from the searing heat we have experienced recently.
Sunday, 13 August 2017
It is well into the night and Yambol's Theatre has been active for some time not. It's show time in the Yambol City with business for local restaurants and bars no doubt when the show has finished.
Saturday, 12 August 2017
In the blistering heat of the day with the sun blazing down it is a relief to get shelter from these uncomfortable elements in Yambol City Centre. The ideal solution is to line the street with trees, an idea as old as the trees themselves which have been established here many decades ago.
Friday, 11 August 2017
It is such a joy to walk in Yambol City Centre and be free from traffic and fumes. The massive space for pedestrians is one of the great assets Yambol has for the people there - Many towns ans cities just don't have this.

These fountains have been here for a couple of years now, I can't remember what it was like before they arrived as they are a splendid sight to sit by and rest. In the night they light up with changing colours, worth waiting until dark to see, which many Yambol people do.
Monday, 7 August 2017
A rare sight indeed here. A Drinking Fountain that doesn't work in the City Centre. I'm sure it will be seen to soon, especially in the extreme heat being experienced here in Yambol right now.
Sunday, 6 August 2017
In case people are not aware, Yambol has four museums, historical Kabile, in the city centre there are three, the art and sculpture museum, the Battle Glory Museum and the new recently reconstructed museum in the heart of the City. This is now advertised in the City Centre as yo can see.
Saturday, 5 August 2017
We see an updated picture of Yambol's Post Office, well know for a meeting place for the people of Yambol. There is always people lingering outside waiting for others who have agreed to meet up there. Conveniently, it is of course right in the centre of Yambol.
Friday, 4 August 2017
Yambol's Library hasn't changed in the last decade and many, including myself use it as a useful time piece with big clocks on two side of the building. You can see The Post Office on the right just a stone's throw away.
Thursday, 3 August 2017
After much renovation and sweat the Yambol Museum has been up and running for a couple of years now. A Yambol landmark from the outside and intriguing and informative inside. Recommend anyone visiting Yambol to pay a visit, it's free.
Wednesday, 2 August 2017
Hobi is the name of the shop where some fantastic quality second hand furniture from Germany is for sale. Don't be deceived by the shop front, inside is an Aladdin's' Cave. Never knew this was here until three months ago and pop in at least once very two weeks to see new stock. And yes I bought many items here for my home - Why pay more for new inferior products?
(I will tell and show you another similar store later in Yambol.)
Tuesday, 1 August 2017
A dogs' view of Georgi C Rakovski Street, one of the most pleasurable walks you can make in the City, no vehicles bar bikes, roller skates and skateboards. Very much a Cafe society atmosphere here for at least 1 km ahead.
